Mothers Day Weather Thread

KCCI just sent a notification through their app that storms producing large hail and damaging winds are approaching the metro. I have not seen a single thing anywhere that says they storms are severe in any way. KCCI is such a click bait *****.

Where's all the weathermen on here now? Don't tell me you're actually working.

And to whomever posted about them hyping things up to get you to download the app you do realize the weather can be substantially different just a county it two apart.

I understand a county or two.. But Plymouth, Ida, and other extreme nw Iowa counties where the worst hit isnt that close to Ames and Des Moines were the worst was predicted at one time. The "storm" rolled through Norwalk left little rain and now clearing up.

Hardly worth all the hype for the last 5 days. I know things move and change course, but it seems we sometimes over hype things with words like severe tornadic event possible.

Exactly got same notice when bringing stuff in from the car during a minor rain event

You do understand this is the first round. There will be more activity around sunset tonight.

Some people get really worked up about weather and meteorologists. If there is a chance for severe storms they have to tell you. Do you think they would rather keep quiet and then something serious really does happen? What exactly are you going to be doing tomorrow at 2 PM? You don't know? Why not? Maybe because there are things that change constantly.

Live in north Ankeny and we got light rain for like 10 minutes tops. An exaggeration by KCCI for sure.

I only follow Jennifer Mcdermed when it comes to weather reporters and it's not really for her forecasting ability.

For those of you thinking this wont be anything, there is currently a tornado on the ground just North of Carroll.
