Not one, but two kids fathered with a mistress? C'mon, man. There are ways to have sex and not father children out of the deal. $20k/month is outrageous, but it is definitely less than the courts would normally go after given his salary, as the article references. The $13k/month he is offering is more than enough to care for the kids AND the mother, though. Quibbling over it seems petty by both parties.

I fear for the kids if he's actually forced to buy $5M life insurance policies for each of them. That sounds scary.

The insurance is on him, not the kids. It is a way to guarantee if he passes the kids will get something from their dad's estate.

When will these wealthy athletes and entertainers learn and practice the time honored tradition of "wrap it, before you tap it?"

TBH, when all is said and done, he’s 248 million in MLB career earnings without a lot of tangible bonuses and whatever he has for endorsements.
Yes, 20k a month seems steep. Say it ends up being 30k a month with all the other possible factors. 30x12x18=6.5 million.
That’s 2.6% of his MLB earnings. That doesn’t seem that ridiculous from that point does it?

You’re probably right, but the way it’s worded I can interpret it either way.

I could see it especially if she is/was Venezuelan too. A lot of players and their families have been threatened by kidnappings.
