McDermott to Creighton?

I would have doubts about any meeting between the AD and any coach this early in the process. If Creighton is like most other schools, they would first have a series of discussions with an search firm like the one in Atlanta that specializes in representing coaches. Most coaches stay under the radar early in the search process by letting their agent earn his money in the preliminary discussions.

Maybe CU's AD was meeting with MAC's agent and not him????

I see all of the posts that logically point out that this doesn't necessarily mean anything, and I concur with that logic, except that I've made that argument over and over again, and found that something really was up. So I've decided that I won't be surprised for a moment if Mac is going to Creighton.

I'd say you are all getting excited over nothing...but past experience tells me that there may be something to this.

While it would be nice to get a break with McDermott like we did with Chiz, I don't know if now is a good time. If this were happening a month ago, I'd be all for it. Would we be better off with whatever hire we could manage to get this late (if Oregon and all their money and their fancy new arena had to settle for Altman, things don't look great for us on that front), or with another year of McDermott? I guess getting out of the $2 million buyout would help...

Should be an interesting couple of days...

wow that was exhausting, 26 pages trying to find something to provide hope to the possibility, now I am sucked into watching channel 5 at 10 and hoping this could work out for everyone...fact is its not working out as is and if can save face and CU wants him - win-win-WIN. ISU BEING THE BIGGEST WINNER

Now - to the bring Larry back crowd - we were a .500 team absent one player, we were a .500 team after that - I loved what Larry did for us but unless Wayne comes with him (which is not happenin with Pollard) then where is he going to get the players? This is a no go in my view - not worth the risk of another failure...

The search firm is Bruce Rasmussen. Creighton doesn't hire outside help.

I love having CPR but calling him a proven winner because of the NU FLUKE and beating an iffy Minny team is a stretch.

CPR took over a team that had won 5 games in two years and managed to win 7 games in his first year in the program. He did it with kids who were in the process of learning a new system, and he managed to get a FLUKE win over Nebraska......

ON. THE. FREAKIN'. ROAD!

If you're gonna defend a coach who took over a program that had been to two postseason tournaments in the three years prior to his tenure, and since then has managed to only win 15 games in a season since then, with an average number of conference wins at 4.5 (for a conference winning percentage of less than .300) along with NO postseason APPEARANCES, much less WINS. then MAYBE, I suggest MAYBE, you shouldn't poormouth the Iowa State Football coach. It just doesn't make any sense.

McD doesn't have an agent.

So does he work with a personnel attorney who handles the duties that an agent normally would perform? I can't believe that someone in the salary range that he is in flies solo in terms of contract negotiations. He certainly got some good advise from someone in terms of what to ask for in his ISU contract.

He and JP put together his contract alone. I am sure there was advice but I am pretty sure they were the two in the room.
