This is wild speculation, but it's not totally crazy to see McDermott taking the vacancy at Creighton now that Altman is going to Oregon. Mac knows the Missouri Valley like the back of his hand, he's won the conference more than once, he's a perfect citizen when it comes to coaches, and might want to get out of Dodge before he's pushed out. Creighton could do a lot worse.

Then Nurse, who just signed a contract with ISU, could get promoted to the head coaching position with a short contract and basically an opportunity to show he can or can't do the job.

I thought about this initially but Greg is likely seen as damaged goods at this point. I doubt Creighton would have much interest. If this were 2 years ago or even last year, I think it could be possible.

I saw your heading........then clicked to only find it is "wild speculation". Speaking of emotional rollercoasters.

I would think Creighton would take him in a heartbeat. But seriously explain the logic why McDermott would want to do that?? Walk away from that much guaranteed money.

I know that this would never happen. But for those of you who want this to happen. Who would you want as the next basketball coach?

Less stress? May miss the lesser stress and the different recruiting environment of the lower level?

But yeah, id agree, less than 1% chance this would happen, this late in the game.

Mac never won a MVC title. He won the MVC Tournament title just once.

Good lord....what half of his job is done?

I'm puzzled why so many people are understanding this. Does anyone really think Greg Mcdemott has acomplished his goals at Iowa State? I think for Greg the only way the job is done to expectations is if he takes ISU to the Big Dance and and wins some games.

Yes his job is half done at best.
