The "AdChoices" window at the bottom (attached to the video feed on the bottom of every page) has sent me suspicious stuff from time to time. In one case I believe it caused my PC a significant problem last fall.

A couple months ago I had some malicious java code get into my computer and screwed it up for 2 weeks before I finally had to totally reformat the whole computer. Not sure where I got it but it was a big pile of suck.

I now use adblock but not sure if it would have prevented it or not. Don't want to deal with that again.

I am to the point I will not even open this website at work anymore in fear that it will set off the anti-virus software which in a large corporation that I work for is managed through an enterprise server and if the threat is severe enough they will sometimes lock your company user account and shut off the network port at your desk till your machine is reimaged. Not worth the risk of that happening especially when I work within IT myself and would likely get scrutiny of why someone within IT is on a site on company time that has security issues.

No offense to the administrators of this site, I love that it's free and very active but at some point using ad applications that have security issues in order to generate the revenue to keep the site free is possibly causing the users of this site more inconveinces than realized. In an age when information security is becoming an area you can't cut corners where there is the real potential for someone getting something that compromises the integrity of their PC it would be assuring to know that these issues aren't being blown off and that the companies being used for ads are being held accountable to clean up these problems else you'll find another place to do business with. Again, I'm not telling you how to run your site but when I have had my anti-virus software both at work and at home flag the site multiple times for potential threats it is concerning that it continues to happen without resolution.

My work (which is one of the largest employers of ISU grads out there) blocks CF as a "malicious site". There are reputable ad companies out there, I don't understand why CF doesn't use one of them.

I'm shocked my company doesn't block this site as well, they are one of the largest employers in Iowa as well and has some very strict information security measures in place and blocks some sites that you'd think are pretty harmless but contain certain key words that set off their proxy server filters. It pains me to even criticize this site for this but I've noticed the frequency of these issues increasing over the past year to the point I amd very careful when and where I am viewing the site.
