Looking forward to the game

Great. Post. This is what I was looking for over here. Screw the people that come back with the farmer shtick. These are normally people who have nothing else to contribute by way of logic. Oh BTW. We have the Hokies to make fun of. We don't need you for that. 

What scares a lot of the UVA fans the most is the unknown. We know what ISU can do and that scares us not knowing that much about your program. I just hope we stay in our game. That's where we have seen the most success.

Thanks for the banter. This game should be a war.

This one will stop hearts in at least 2 states.

That's nowhere near what I said.... This game scares the hell out of me

90% of the reasonable posters understood your post for exactly what it was. You have a VA slant but provided a decent run-down of the match-ups. Ignore the other 10% as they boo at the special olympics.

I tried to read it with an open mind and he seems like a nice guy but it came off fairly elitist at least to me.

Pretty much how it read to me as well. Sounded like it was a post to "set the record straight" from feeling disrespected by an "inferior" team/fanbase in their mind. Reading that reminded me a lot of the posters we had from UCONN when we played them.

Virginia is definitely a tough out. We haven't exactly played well against physical teams, especially one as good defensively as Virginia. Hopefully our shots are falling and we can avoid foul trouble.

I don't think he said anything about his team that we wouldn't say to opposing fans about out own. He even admitted that our players are fantastic and that he's worried about the matchup. Everyone needs to chill out, do you expect opposing fans to come to this forum and grovel at the Cyclones feet?
Well, their website is still hilarious.

Interesting. I'm a reasonable poster. Forgive me for skimming the ISU praise at the end of the post. I'd already checked out by then after reading that:

0. Our AltaVista hosted message board is quite functional.
1. ISU will go up-tempo and get shut down just like everyone else. Teams A, B, C, and D all tried it and what did that get them?
2. Brogdon is God's MVP and his rank is somewhere between that of the Seraphim and the Archangels. Probably somewhere around the Thrones.
3. On the strength of a single weekend, the ACC is the best conference in the country. Disregard the entire season that was just played, it doesn't matter.
4. We're not superior to you. We just have three national championships in the last twelve months.

Re-reading the OP, it's a lot better than the Hawk trolls we get around here. Sorry.

Virginia is damn good and their fans have a right to be a little bit cocky.

Their forum on the other hand is a disaster and there is no excuse.

The ACC is not the best conference in the Nation. Look at who you played in the first round:

UNC Wilmington
Hampton
Buffalo
Florida Golf Coast
Dayton
Wisconsin (loss)
Michigan

And second round:
Wichita State (11 seed)
Yale (12 seed)
Butler (9 seed)
Providence (9 seed)
SF Austin (14 seed)
Mid Tennessee (15 seed)

It's not like you're lighting the world on fire. Putting the most teams into the Sweet 16 does not correlate to "Best Conference" there's a lot of factors that go into how many teams you advance...most notably that the highest seed you played was a 9 seed.

I have a full body boner for this game. The anticipation is killing me! Should be a good match up between two really talented teams

Might want to get that checked out. The common name for that condition is rigor mortis, and those afflicted with it are generally already dead.

Some of you guys are a little over-sensitive. This guy was just being high on his own team, not being a dismissive **** about ours.
We have as many jacka*s members here that make us look bad as they have in the UVA board. Most guys are probaby cool, but a few ruin the perception for the rest of us.

Both teams are are peaking and playing efficient, who executes their game plan the best will win. I like that the game is in Chicago and Monte is healthy (and Jameel is 100% in and accepting of his role). We have been in every loss down to the last 60 seconds and we could say "we didn't really lose X game " too due to bad calls, but that's not how it works. If you are going to beat us, we will have to be in foul trouble and very cold from the floor.

I think it's a coin flip. Hopefully it comes up on our side.

What gives me hope is there are legitimate reasons to believe this team is peaking at the right time, and may be playing much better than their metrics would suggest. New coach which resulted in some serious personnel issues in the heart of the conference schedule. Monte being as healthy as he has been since the start of conference play when he was arguably the best pg in the country.

ISU has been able to score on anybody. The problem is they couldn't stop anyone from scoring on them. They finally seem to be locked in on doing the little things to rebound and defend. They will never be good at these things because they are a team that is built to score the ball, but they don't have to be that good. If they can just be near average they will be in a position to win at the end of the game.

They beat who was put in front of them, while the B12 did not as a whole. This past weekend they were the best conference, for the season the B12 was. I like the odds for us to get 3 teams in Elite 8...

Three of the teams listed are teams that the Big 12 did not beat.

And we got a 13 and a 12. So people can make the same argument against Iowa State.

Any insight into why Bennett bailed out of the return matchup from the game in 2010?

Looking forward to the game this Friday, its incredible how far he's brought the program since then.

The point to be made is that the ACC can't simply claim to be the best conference because they have 6 teams in the sweet 16. Impressive yes, they won the games they had. But that singular point doesn't lead to a definitive outcome.

Michigan State lost to Mid Tennessee, does that mean Mid Tennessee was the better team for the year?
