Looking for a comparison

First off I'm a big Iowa State fan so I'm not a hawk fan puffing up my chest. My girlfriend knows nothing of wrestling and it's my favorite sport. Because I'm a huge wrestling fan I have to like the Hawkeyes. Kills me when we lose to them, but they are incredible wrestlers. I'm trying to explain to her what Dan Gable did as a coach over there and found myself trying to compare it to other accomplishments. I thought for a moment what John Wooden did at UCLA, but I still don't think he quite reaches Gable's accomplishments. Anyone got a comparison because I can't think of one?

There is nobody who has done what Gable did. Wooden would probably be the closest one. If only we would have kept him.

At the end didn't he break some Lacrosse coach's (Syracuse?) record for most national championships? Even if my fading memory is right, Wooden would probably still be a better comparison.
