Live from BISON nation.

Thanks for the info. I realize there are a-holes on every message board. Of course NDSU is the enemy and I don't expect any Cyclone fans to give the Bison much respect. Until NDSU becomes an FBS team you and other FBS teams will treat us like the little brother. Maybe NDSU doesn't have as big a stadium, etc., but NDSU does have FBS type facilities along with great coaches, players and fans that have a desire to play at the top level of college football. We are all fired up top play football at Ames in a big time environment. Can't wait to tailgate with you guys!
ehhh... ISU's facilities are near the bottom of the Big 12, minus Hilton Coliseum and our Indoor Practice facilities. NDSU has good facilities for FCS, minus their basketball arena. That thing looks like it would rank somewhere in the middle of high school basketball facilities.

As for tailgating. Tailgate in the student lots, south of the stadium in the grass lots if you're looking for the party atmosphere. Tons of drinking games, college women, and crazy drinking

3000 fans won't do crap for you in jack trice. And if you're fans open there mouth like lakebison, i sure hope they come over to the student lots and run there mouth.
Is that a threat?.......must work for you against the rest of the big 12.

Yup.... Thats probably the least amount of fans from a visiting team we will get all year. With the exception of Army I bet.

I'm not worried about them chearing... They can have their small cornere in JTS. Won't make a difference on anything.

I was speaking of football facilities (actually one of the best in FCS and likely better than a third of FBS). Yes, the BSA is crap for DI basketball. Working on something better but the recession hit so the new arena is on hold.

Children, children, the latest Bison fans to register seem like decent football loving folk.

Ames has one of the best tailgating atmospheres in the country, all are welcome, except those in black/gold.

Just don't come into our backyard and start telling us how you're going to win this game or slamming our team. We both know what this is; it's great exposure for NDSU (and probably twice the revenue you'll get for the rest of the FCS season) and it's a fantastic/safe warm-up prior to our Iowa game. How about everyone just gets excited for the first NCAA game of the year and some AWESOME tailgating?

...actually one of the best in FCS and likely better than a third of FBS).

What stadiums do you have in mind? Given the minimum paid attendance average a school must have to be DI FBS is 15k (rolled over a two-year period), I think it is unlikely your facility is "better" than 40 FBS teams.

...um, there are 119 teams in FBS. He said 1/3. 40 is actually more than 1/3 of 119. So you were agreeing with what he said.

Thats how ISU beat SDSU so handily as well. SDSU had 5 turnovers.

First, because this comparison comes down to both SDSU and UNI vs. ISU, we have to somehow, though completely outlandish, hold those two (SDSU and UNI) as equal, to compare turnovers. Doing this, we have to hold their defenses as equal as well, thus the points scored (even off turnovers) cannot be revoked.

Let us assume that the 6 turnovers (not 5) actually was the demise of SDSU and they would have beat us if they didn't happen. That would mean that the 6 turnovers would negate 27 points, leaving them at a tie. That would leave each turnover equal to 4.5 points. But because we are awarding points for turnovers, we must award equal points to both teams for their created turnovers. For simplicity purposes, and to keep from inflating the number of points given to each turnover, I will forgive this statistic. (note: this would create a larger point total awarded to each turnover, but this isn't needed to prove my point)

So, lets assume that 1 turnover is equal to 4.5 points.

During ISU vs. UNI game that was talked about before, UNI created 4 turnovers, while ISU created zero. The ending score to this game was 24-13, UNI prevailing. If we hold the 4.5 points per turnover and UNI created 4 turnovers, ISU would then be awarded 18 points in compensation. Leaving the final score 24-31 in ISU's favor.

Let me make this clear, I'm only trying to show that the case that you presented (reason why we beat SDSU) is not paralleled in the reason UNI beat us. In no way do I believe that one turnover is equal to a certain number of points, or that you can compare different teams from different years. I'm only using the available information (though limited) in attempt to come to a semi-reasonable conclusion.

FWIW

um, there are actually 120 FBS teams, which means that 40 is exactly 1/3...even if you were right (which you weren't) that there are 119 teams, he was only 1 off....is that really worth correcting?

Are you serious? The percent error between 119 and 120 would be around .8, and would result in 40 teams being .28 percent greater (never mind sig figs) than 1/3 of the FBS. Given we are speaking in general terms about a subjective ranking, I stand by the question the numbers. Also, saying that NDSU's football stadium is not better than 33.6% of the FBS does not equate to agreeing with the statement that NDSU's football facilities are better than 1/3 of the FBS.

Furthermore, and this is crucial, there are 120. Western Kentucky just completed the two-year transition period from Division I FCS in 2008, and is a full FBS member in 2009.

I will admit I made a reading mistake in your OP...I thought you were saying something like "meh, I bet youre only better than 40 teams."

In saying that and after rereading some of my other posts in these two threads. I think its time both sides step away from the situation and reevaluate. Cyclone fans, I think understand what this team is capable of and what is expected. bison fans, from what I have picked up, understand that their team has played this level of competition before. And Hawk fans just like interjecting their opinions on everything. There is really no point in arguing because there will be no finality in this situation until the final second rolls off the clock.

Glad to see Cyclone fans have some class. As far as running up the score, just keep dreaming.....

You come to another teams and don't expect smack talk? What did you expect, compliments?

I might compliment you but, I have never even heard of North Dakota State before this year. Non of us here have ever even heard of North Dakota State or whatever you guys are. Im sure you have a nice little school that plays 1-AA football, but go away. We dont really care.

We will run the score up. It will be embarrasing for you. You will feel like the JV. I just hope nobody gets hurt on either team in this waste of a game.

Do you see us on other teams boards acting like complete idiots???

I'm guess not...

From what you guys have written to Bison fans, yes "complete idiots" is probably how some of you act on your opponents boards.

......whatever......I cannot wait for this game!!!!
