The Register picked up on an internet article listing the "lewd-sounding" town names in the US. Pretty funny (especially if you are 12 ;) when you scan the country to see selections from each state. I think Iowa represents well although someone needs to tell both authors that Beaverdale is a neighborhood in Des Moines, not a town itself. ( Excusable from a national source, not-so-much when the "local" paper doesn't know enough to correct (or at least acknowledge) the error...

This is the ‘lewdest’ town name in Iowa

oddest town names.

Someone has a dirty mind. The folks over at Estately just couldn’t get enough of goofy town names nationwide. Earlier this month, the real estate site posted the oddest town names. Now, it’s exploring lewd-sounding town names.

And in Iowa, that honor goes to Balltown, population 68, north of Dubuque and home to James Beard Foundation America’s Classic winner and the oldes

I moved back from Arizona last summer, and drove all the way back to the midwest. In the middle of the night, in the middle of nowhere AZ, I passed a town called Two Guns, Arizona. Although I know it's not lewd, but I thought it was interesting. Idk why but that town name always sticks with me.

Not lewd, but I used to live in Virginia and always giggled driving north into DC when I saw the sign that said Dumfries/Manasses.

Back in my dorm days during the big trivia contest (I forget the official name for it then) they would have a few traveling questions.

The guys on our floor (and their girlfriends) went out on one of them and for some reason they thought the clue sent them to Polk City. When they came back someone asked them if they got to Polk City.

Somehow it got interpreted as "Poke City" and since they went with their girlfriends it seemed hilariously funny (also alcohol). Red faces, etc.

Maybe you had to be there, and/or drunk-ish.
