The bigger the coach, the bigger the win total.
How weird would this scenario be:
Snyder dicks around and doesn't retire, and KU fires their coach, and under the table offers Venables $5 mil.

Not sure if the KU administration understands that. A slow build is required, but who knows if they will actually wait that long.

NC State HC (I understand why he's on the list, but he'd be a fool to leave NC State)

Spot on. KU fans will come out and support the football team if a dramatic turnaround occurs, but they will not even feign interest for less than immediate success. They have been completely spoiled by their basketball success and are the definition of entitled.
There may be some parallels to our past football woes and KU's current situation, but fan support isn't remotely close. Whatever coach replaces Beatty is going to have to perform a miracle in under 3 years just to be able to keep his job long enough for the fans to start giving a ****.
honestly thought this was an error at first. I'd say the only person that should take this job, is someone who needs a check, has a great financial planner, and a great agent who will negotiate an intense buyout clause.

Where things stand today, is there any P5 program that could make the case for being a worse job than KU? It is going to be pretty tough to land your choice when pretty much any other job offer is a better offer.

I can't remember if KU had decent fan support for Mangino or not. Even if they had a miracle and won 6 games next year, I still don't think anyone would show up.
True. But since KUs last bowl game in 2008, Rutgers has been to 5 bowl games, winning 3 of them. I don't know if Rutgers is a clear cut worse job.
Right now? I think so. KU was going to win 3-4 games, which is awful, but Rutgers is in a different world and not moving forward. KU was moving in a positive direction. Slowly, but they were moving that way.
Recruiting was going to kill them. They probably had to do this to sell hope.
Stupid move by Kansas. Problems go way beyond what the coach is doing. They are actually better than I thought they should be
