This week, I learned that Joshua Kagavi is not going to introduce any more ISU stories and collections under the Kagavi umbrella. From my perspective, this is really bad news because I really appreciate the ISU story-telling, especially those about Jack Trice, and suspect that there are many more stories to be told.

However, this may be good news for some because they are selling out their inventory at clearance prices. “Recent unexpected events have forced our hand. We are forced to sell our entire ISU collection quickly within the next month or so.â€￾

So, for as much as I have enjoyed Kagavi’s contributions, I want to make sure that Cyclone Fanatics were once again made fully aware of www.kagavi.com.

Shop for ISU shirts with vintage designs and the vintage Pendleton stadium blanket that was recognized by ESPN as this year’s #1 gift : Shop | Kagavi

Read the blog filled with great stories from ISU history, fascinating pieces on design, photos, art, and whatever other neat things caught Kagavi’s attention: Blog | Kagavi.

The blog link also takes you to his most recent entry on “The End of An Era.â€￾

Thanks so much Joshua and Lori. We will miss you.

P.S. I hope that Iowa State, the Jack Trice mystique, and the power of Hilton Magic keeps drawing you back to Ames.

The best way to experience the Kagavi blog is just to scroll through each page, move on to “older posts,” and be delighted with surprises on every page. However, I also made an index of links to some of the Iowa State entries because I want to be able to find these stories when I want them (and thought some of you might also).

As I made the index, I was struck by the fact that the oldest blog entry was about the origin of Hilton Magic 30 years ago and I’m posting on the day of the biggest Iowa State/ Iowa basketball game since that era.

Story about Chris Taylor, when he came to ISU, he was taken to the Animal Science buildings so he could be weighed. I think Dan Gable was at ISU at the same time?

Is this NCAA Licensing shutting him down?

I doubt if it is anything like this. He has always operated in the open and would have been shut down long ago if this was it. The ISU legal department doesn't miss a beat. I know of others who were shut down almost immediately.

I hope that Josh continues to research and write! I'm sorry that the shopping site didn't work out but he really does amazing work scouring the ISU archives. Good luck Josh!

Saw this and had to log in. Thanks for the support. Nothing like this. We have just decided to move on from licensed merchandise and develop more of our own original content. As I alluded to in my blog post, this decision was made internally by us many months ago. Other circumstances are forcing our hand with this immediate collection... but don't worry, we will still be around--we are just developing other stories. Since I grew up in Ames and went to ISU, I wanted our first collection to be based on ISU in order to give back to the great fans and community!

Thanks to everyone who is enjoying their Kagavi gear! We will continue to write/research ISU stories, but those will eventually become special events rather than the focus of our company like they are now. We still have ISU stuff planned through the end of this month on our blog.

Along with the incredible work of Cycsk (thanks!) in making an index, you can also browse our tags, which are only visible within the actual post themselves (such as tagged Feature Stories here: Feature | Kagavi)

I worked in the ISU Meat Lab when Chris came to town. He had to be weighed on the scale that we weighed cattle carcasses on. Well over 400 pounds and unbelievable to watch. I thought there was pictures in the Daily of him weighing in.

Boo. I just got a t-shirt from him and I was going to start a thread about his great products and customer service. Instead I see them going on clearance.

Sorry it didn't work out guys. You were awesome and you had great products.

Drove by the new building being built next to the ISU Sukup BB Practice Facility today and noticed how much its exterior appearance seems to have design elements of State Gym (which I saw yesterday on the first page of the Kagavi blog). However, I don't think it is even an ISU building. Does anyone know what that is and whether it is intended to reflect State Gym?

I meant to share this. I did write a small story on Chris Taylor earlier this year, which can be found here: Iowa State’s Chris Taylor Versus Andre the Giant | Kagavi. Honestly it was more of an excuse to share the picture of Andre the Giant with Chris, which shows how close Chris was to Andre in size. Had Chris grown an afro, perhaps he would've been even more imposing?

It is another building for the Iowa Attack. I am not sure if they intended it to look like state gym or not.
