I love this quote from the article:

"Early in his career at Iowa State, Yelk missed a field goal attempt. The Cyclones never really gave him a second chance, relegating him to punting and kickoff duties."

That's kind of glossing over the situation, isn't it? How about missing FOUR field goals at A&M (and the team lost by three). How about two crucial FGs in the Indy Bowl vs Alabama? Yelk missed plenty of kicks before being relegated to kickoffs. He had second, third, fourth, fifth chances.

Tony's a good guy and I hope he does well, but no way can I see him kicking FGs in the NFL. Kickoffs? Sure. Punting? Maybe. FGs? No way.

Well, maybe somebody in the NFL coaching ranks can give Tony the secret(and I assume that it's a mental thing) about kicking the ball straight. We all know that he can kick long. I wouldn't count him out yet.

Don't forget that A&M was ranked in that game - an away game win against a top 25 team would've done wonders.

I wish Tony all the best, looks like he has a real good chance to make it for the Falcons, and I'd love to see him succeed. Luckily I'm not a big Falcons fan though, cuz I would never feel safe with him kicking in a pressure situation.

I thought that Yelk might make a descent FG kicker in the NFL since the hash marks and field goal posts are at the same width. His leg was never a problem. It was always accuracy from what I remember. And the narrower hash marks in the NFL should help that problem.
