Crazy game and a great W. Was at a gathering watching game and didn't notice Darrion Porter playing and also wondering if anybody knows why Jayden Higgens didn't play.

According to Chris Williams they both just said “nah” to playing in the bowl game.

Tell them not to fret, this was just a meaningless exhibition game, it didn't count.

Yeah but as a fan and how we hype ourselves up for games, it would've been great to know they were out a few days ago. I mean, why the secrecy?
pretty simple. they don't want the other team to know.

Ahh...years from now Higgins and Porter will reflect on the great win Iowa State had at this Pop Tarts Bowl...and that they had zero impact on the win.
(Also important to note that ISU probably wouldn't have even been there without their contributions on the year. So it works both ways.)

Because there's so much film on the other WRs? No. It just over hyped the fans and gave a bit of a letdown being it wasn't said until kickoff.
Is this that hard to grasp? It's about preparation. Coaches look for any leg up they can get. If you can get your opponent to spend time thinking about how they're going to play against a player like Higgins, that's less time that they have to spend game planning for the other things you might do. Matt Campbell is not the first coach to do this. It's pretty much standard operating procedure. How do you not know this?

Hard to be upset at any of these guys for their decision. Especially given the hobbling that an already decimated Freyler took.
When he went out there with the team with a knee brace and crutches I nearly cried. Heartbreaking for the kid who put his heart and soul into this team...
