Jauan Wesley

Losing tucker or Lazard or any other sure starter..that hurts..JW had some potential but a 4th option likely this year.depth loss that's about it.

JW had potential. He started 9 games as a true sophomore. He had talent. Sounds like he also had some issues. Coach Campbell has high standards for our players. Sounds like JW was not living up to those standards. I support Coach Campbell on this decision.

Started 9 of the games last year but definitely a 4th option? Any other idiocy to spread around here? Spin to win I guess.

Lazard and Daley were 1-2...so yea he's 3-4th WR option is what I meant..he had some talent but I'm least concerned about WR..clearly u are in full melt down mode though..go take a Dramamine Brett..God some people on here are so damn wound tight

He was a starter as a true sophomore. No one is in meltdown. But he had talent. Would prefer that he did not have issues. But he did. Some young guys will need to step up.

It is never good losing a guy with experience but I kind of feel like the drop off to the back ups isn't that bad especially with Deshaunte Jones coming in. And next year we will have that slot WR from NH that is sitting out this year. Hopefully salters can step it up as well

yep, knee iirc. Wesley always looked like he had potential but hadn't done a ton yet. It's crazy how thin we are at the skill positions. We can't afford any more injuries

He was a true sophomore last year. At that point in his career how much did you expect him to have accomplished? A starter as a sophomore with 2 years left, is actually performing pretty well.

I'm expecting a big senior year out of Daley, I think he is going to step up and have a great season.

Every year the Dondre Daley hype train leaves the station and every year he disappears after playing the two weakest teams. We just lost a guy that was younger, had more yards, and more TDs. But everyone here somehow thinks Daley was the better option. Your just embarrassing yourselves at this juncture. Pre season stupidity is why I want to see Hakeem Butler in action before passing judgement. But half this board has already crowned him the next Blythe.

No reason to be mean. Not like Iowa State football is life or death. Let people have their fun. We have enough people sucking the air out of our country men right now.

IMO, why I am less concerned is that we have Allan Lazard who is poised to become that elite level of receiver that we have not had. Jauan Wesley is no Allan Lazard. We do have some good young talent coming in and some that has been on campus. Our primary WR of Lazard is still a junior. And Lazard is a special talent. Coach Campbell will fit the pieces together ant make it work. I look for us to be primarily a run team supported by passing. Not sure how good Jauan Wesley was at blocking, but our WR's are going to have to block. Blythe did not block at all. He totally sucked at it and did not make much of an effort at it.

Depends on the offense we run. Last year when we ran 4 WRs, that 4th option saw the field quite a bit. It isn't like losing he 4th option RB.

Time for someone else to step up. Always tough to lose someone that was a starter, but I don't want him if Coach Campbell doesn't want him. It is not like he is out due to injury. Dude was obviously an issue.

If the o-line is good then any warm body can play receiver and make some catches.

If the o-line is bad then no one anywhere is good enough to be a difference maker as a WR.

OL >>>>> WR in importance.

Those on here that don't think losing Wesley is a big deal are kidding themselves. He was the best slot guy we had, and he was the best WR we had with the ball in his hands after the catch at making people miss and turning a 5 yd gain into 15 yd or more gain.

Those that think guys like Hakeem Butler will replace Wesley just don't understand. Butler is not even remotely the same kind of WR that Wesley is. The best replacements for Wesley will likely be someone like Salters or DeShaunte Jones. Those the guys that have a great opportunity in front of them.
