Jauan Wesley

I doubt we see Salters much...but yes Carson Epps is a guy who I think is poised to fill in fine..Look Wesley was an decent WR talent but it's not like we just lost an all conf player..come on guys. Juan Wesley is replaceable. Fortunately we have talent coming in and on Roster..It's not like this offense is going to go 5 wide much any more. We now are running an offense that is actually TE and Doulbe TE driven..Gasp! It is what it is..JW decided he wanted to do things he shouldn't be doing instead of taking advantage of his God given talent and free education...his loss.

I was going to mention Epps, along with Salters and Deshaunte Jones as possible replacements, but I thought both Epps and Wesley were going to be starters this year, so I wasn't sure if they played the same WR position or not?

Wow - I didn't realize how many people on CF were FB coaches and scouts to predict the talent level and future of our WR's. Losing JW sucks but to those who believe he was the 2nd coming should remember that he was starting on a team that won 3 games! Maybe he would have blossomed even more but now we will never know as he became a problem to CMC. CPR put up with some attitudes as he was desperate to save his job - CMC is still optimistic so cutting a cancer to him is the right thing. I prefer the coach to coach and as a fan I hope we play well and will root for whoever wears the Cardinal & Gold. Lamenting the loss of someone who might have been good to great is expected - to berate others over it is classless and juvenile! GO CYCLONES!

Ryan and Epps will be in the slot. Butler and DLC are expected to surprise people. Daley has talent, and has shown flashes. He just got replaced by a more talented Montgomery who plays the same spot, but is no longer here.

Ryan is a solid slot receiver and having Lazard makes that unit legit even if their isn't a ton of depth. The offense will be more run based because of Warren and out of necessity anyway so hopefully the loss of Wesley won't be too noticeable. I also don't see Campbell trying to get as many different skill players snaps as Rhoads seemed to be his last few seasons.

Me thinks that this may have been the "issue".
I doubt he would leave because we are using more TEs. My guess is he got in trouble with weed. He did last year and he also was suspended a few games for violating team rules. CMC expects the best out of everyone and doesn't want anyone breaking rules. That why I think Wesley is gone.

I was surprised that he came back for Spring semester. It's definitely a loss as he had the ability to make plays.

Those on here that don't think losing Wesley is a big deal are kidding themselves. He was the best slot guy we had, and he was the best WR we had with the ball in his hands after the catch at making people miss and turning a 5 yd gain into 15 yd or more gain.

Those that think guys like Hakeem Butler will replace Wesley just don't understand. Butler is not even remotely the same kind of WR that Wesley is. The best replacements for Wesley will likely be someone like Salters or DeShaunte Jones. Those the guys that have a great opportunity in front of them.

I get your point and I agree we didn't want to lose him but there is some reaching in your post.

Wesley is fast and that was his best attribute. He was not the best runner after the catch and frankly was disappointing after the catch for his skills. Ryen is a much better receiver after the catch. Ryen also runs better routes and will make the tough catch in traffic.

Wesley to this point hadnt produced on the field to the level of his athletic ability. He was still young though and that is the biggest loss. He was young and fast and hopefully improving.

Receivers in general- find me guys that can run a 4.6, good routes, and can adjust to the ball. If a receiver can do that, he will be a quality receiver. Some of Iowa states best have been small Iowa receivers that run well.

As for Hakeem Butler, he has good skills but I was very disappointed in this ability to adjust to the ball in the spring game. He misjudged one ball that was decently thrown so bad he didn't touch it.

Play Lazard, Ryen, And the next two best. Quit rotating receivers every play like the Rhoads staff did.

I always find posts like these so stupid. It's a message board. People are discussing the impact the loss my or may not have. What the hell conversation do you want to happen on a message board? What's the point of them if you don't want people discussing these things?

Stop right there, cyrocksmypants! Only posts discussing the future success of the Iowa State Cyclones are allowed here. If you have some juvenile nicknames to call our rivals, great! CMC, CSP, CPR? Even better! Finally, if you could also address one of our coaches by the title of his profession, voicing your unwavering support and belief that he's doing it "the right way" , you've mastered the art of the clueless.

I think you missed the actual point as you just made the opposite argument. Ironic to say the least.

I really don't know how or why you're still around. You constantly call out CW and just start ******* matches in every thread.

Important things like planes on treadmills or making fun of poor people that have mortgages.

Fall 2015 - suspended by CPR at some point per scout.com link (wake up call attempt/third chance)
October 15, 2015 - probation violation (blows his 2nd & 3rd chances)
November 13, 2015 - deferred judgment has been revoked; pleads guilty to both OWI & probation violation, sent to jail for 2 days, assessed a fine & court costs of just short of $2000
This week - meets with CMC and they agree to part ways.
Oh, and 6.5 months later, he has paid $500 of the $1963 fine/costs. That doesn't jump out at me as a guy who has paid his debt to society.
If I am in the market for transfer athletes, he has to make that payment before he gets an official visit to my campus.

I didn't see that many people thinking Butler would replace him.
