My oldest son is a college student and listens to mostly post-grunge/alternative (Seether, Shinedown, Disturbed, etc.) and new-school punk (Blink-182, Green Day, etc.).

My high school senior listens to mostly old rock. My 8th grader likes top 40 music.

Reading some of the latest posts, I wondered what music most ISU students listen to now.

If you are a current college student, what are you listening to?

Probably the same as your high school senior son. I also like rap from like the early 90s, A tribe called quest, the roots. Marvin Gaye, Bob Marley, Grateful Dead too. Rambly post.

I'm more of a Metallica/Slipknot ish kinda guy. As of late I've been listening to Sevendust. Great band that not many people I know have heard of

I mostly listen to country music. But I also listen to some Alternative, R&B, and some Hip-Hop. Oh, and Carly Rae Jepsen.

My nephew (ISU junior) is living w/ us for the summer for his internship. On arriving he was into The Decembrists, Shins, Guster. He has added Hudson Bell and The Big Pink to the iPod. I'm digging trading playlists w/ the kid.

Fun/The Format, Iron and Wine, Fleet Foxes, Arcade Fire, Childish Gambino, and 90's rap, lots of just random 90's music, Wallflowers, Matchbox 20, Pearl Jam, some ben folds a little bit of techno with classic Daft Punk, and some more modern Deadmau5, Justice.

My tastes are quite broad.

Lately I've been hooked on Fitz and the Tantrums. Nice modern twist on Jazz and Blues. Wikipedia calls them "soul/indie pop"
