ISU Bowl Projection

K-State was in Phoenix last year. Highly doubt they would go back to back years.
Probably not but it isn't unprecedented. I believe Minnesota was in their second of back to back years when we faced them in the Insight Bowl. It was also their third visit in four years. But to the point, Gopher fan attendance was down that year.

I'm just making a joke about their attendance generally being crap.
No argument from me, I live among them. Their football stadium is nice but they had to put a huge hole at the end of it to keep from having a bunch of empty seats. And the barn? Well calling it a barn is being nice...

I thought seeds 5-8 have home games against seeds 9-12?

Also, didn't all 4 teams with a bye last year end up losing their first playoff game? I don't think the bye is as much of an advantage as you're making it out to be. I'll be rooting for BYU & both to get in.
You are correct, I edited my post to reflect that. ... Or maybe TT would drop to a 9 with loss (I could see committee doing something like that) in which case it'd be on the road in round1

they'd at least drop to 9, I think BYU would climb to 5-6. Then it depends on if Bama beats Georgia how far they fall. If Bama beats Georgia then I think Tech and ND are vying for the final spot. I think Tech would get that spot (if for nothing else than to eliminate the Miami/ND talking point)

If Bama loses to Georgia then Tech/Alabama/ND are fighting for the final two spots. If they have ND ranked ahead of Alabama tonight (I don't see why that would change now) I'm not what scenario exists that would have Alabama jump them with a loss considering part of Alabama's resume is having already beat Georgia so a close loss shouldn't move the needle.

I'm rooting for a BYU and Duke win because both of those situations are fascinating

I'm willing to bet ND won't miss the playoff until at least the next round of conference realignment. They need to lose 3 games minimum to not get considered.

Tech wouldn’t really have to “battle” ND or Bama. They’re solidly ahead of both. I’m sure Tech will be number 4 tonight. They’re not going to drop them 7 spots for a neutral field loss to #11 if they were to lose to BYU.

I think they’d drop probably behind OU. Which would be 5 spots. That’s what I expect A&M to drop tonight after they lost to Texas.

Probably important to the committee to ensure there's something for Tech to play for in the championship game, because a lackluster effort in a meaningless outcome for them, that benefits BYU, really messes up other preferred outcomes that they have been trying to lay out with their rankings.

Tech definitely has something to play for. They’re going to want that CFP bye for sure.

Guessing we will have till wait till mid-to late Sunday afternoon to find out our destination but some bowl match-ups are getting set now:
