ISU Bowl Projection

I think it would be easy for JP to say that he doesn’t think we would see great attendance this year after being there so often, especially against the same opponent the last two times.
yep... that has to be his pitch, right. tell the Liberty Bowl that he has heard from the fanbase that they will not attend this bowl again... especially against Memphis.

Bowl games just suck at this point. All these tie-ins, and players choosing not to play, etc has just ruined it. Why would a team, and it's fans, want to go to the same bowl nearly every year or every other year?

You have to angle it right that you don’t tell them to F off completely. You never know when bowls might move up or down in order

He can sell it to the Liberty Bowl execs that he's doing them a favor. If they select Iowa State and the opponent is Memphis Iowa States attendance will be awful.

probably should have pulled out head out of our asses in the Colorado game. Liberty would not be an option then.

I don’t see how it’s healthy for a bowl to select the same teams over and over.

I am going to predict it will be a horribly attended game in Memphis if we are selected. I don’t get the appeal other than it’s drivable.

I would wager that the Liberty Bowl doesn't want us there either. They know a third matchup with Memphis would be a disaster.

Guessing he might have put them there over us because we went there last year. Not sure. Only other choice would be what Houston?
Yeah I think BYU to Alamo, Houston to Pop Tarts makes the most sense.

Iowa State and TCU are the next best teams out there for the Texas Bowl. I know they always take a Texas team, so TCU would make the most sense there. With the game being 2 days after Christmas, this might make a Texas team more desirable. However, if they want Iowa State vs an SEC team, we HAVE to accept that over the Rate. Part of this is jockeying for preseason polls next year, and a potential win over an SEC team would help there over a Rate Bowl win vs a low level Big 10 team.

If TCU goes to Texas, then Cinci to Liberty, Iowa State to the Rate, and KSU to Shreveport.

Ugh, Brett McMurphy has changed his projection to this:

Liberty Bowl (Jan. 2)
Memphis, Tenn.
Iowa State vs. Tulane

He has USC vs. BYU in Alamo (San Antonio), has Houston vs. UTSA in Texas Bowl (Houston) & K-State vs. Minnesota in the Rate Bowl (Phoenix).
K-State was in Phoenix last year. Highly doubt they would go back to back years.

Wonder if Alamo Bowl has an issue with taking BYU again this year? Guessing not but would be back-to-back years.

Yeah, I wonder that too. My guess is that bowl will be BYU/TCU vs USC/Washington.

Yeah, the usual lazy reporting we see from the national media. Looking at league standings and matching them up with the bowl tie ins and selection order. I would guess they have no idea that ISU and Memphis have already played twice in that bowl in recent history. Fortunately, the bowl committe is aware of that fact which is why that game won't happen.
Yeah, wasn’t one of those because of the Bowl, we played Memphis 3 times in a span of less than one year?

Also, what’s up with Memphis always being in that bowl? It’s their home field. Isn’t part of the draw of a bowl game for the players to kind of get a bit of a vacation, away from campus for a few days? You are on winter break, you’ve earned a bowl, congrats, you get to stay in your dorm room the whole time.

Given the sheer number of these predictions I wonder if they are subconsciously recalling previous games and consciously deciding it sounds like a plausible matchup?
