last night it looked like MT took two mid-range shots that were both floaters. That doesn't seem like a designed play based on MT's skillset.
I remember seeing him hit a few in the past. He was ice cold last night though.

If we were taking shots between the paint and the 3 point line, you'd be complaining about why this team doesn't either try to drive it in under the basket, or take it out for the 3.
Sure its a great shot if you're good at it, but nobody on our team is. I think Isaiah Taylor torched us with mid-range pull ups, but he's not on our team.

I would have liked Long to pull up at the elbow or even a little closer rather than trying to go the rim on his drives. Getting to the rim isn't his game IMO.
I think that was more Thomas trying to get something going for himself than part of the doctrine. No design to it but I think he feels more comfortable in that middle range. I don't think Fred is especially pleased with him when he does it, but whatever it takes to get a spark.
I think he's just trying to get a more open shot. One of those things where when he hits it, he looks like a genius. When he misses, it's a bad shot.

However, for whatever reason, using a bank shot from midrange is typically not taught to young BB players.
have zero offensive game between the paint and the 3pt line? watching us play OU, OSU and now WVU, it became clear that we almost never shoot a mid range jumper, and rarely ever actually make them when we do.
i guess it doesn't matter as long as we win. just doesn't seem like we even try the mid range game.
Mid-range bank shots don't bring on the ladies, swishes and dunks do.
Mid-range jump shooters have gotten a bad reputation in the new efficiency obsessed NBA. Does anyone know if Fred's offense is influenced by NBA concepts? I feel like an announcer might have mentioned something like that during a game...
