Has anyone else received a letter from the IRS regarding "... past due 2020 taxes"?

I am being told their computers have messed up and sending these out. Is that accurate?

Yes, I paid my taxes on time, I have the returned check to prove it.

Did they also tell you that your car’s warranty was expiring?

Depends what you mean by "on time".

If you were required to make estimate payments and didn't make them but did make the balance due payment by the 5/15 deadline you could absolutely have late penalties and interest.

This is just one of many situations that could arise and cause the balance due....

Or it is totally possible they done goofed. Good luck if you need to call in.

I got a weird ass letter from the IRS also on Monday. Haven’t taken the time to sit down and decipher it yet as I have had more important things to do like refresh fanatics and check on CMC status. Looks to be bunch of government bs.

The only way the IRS will contact you is by mail so there is the possibility this is legit.
This should be some sort of official form (ie: CPxx) that you should be able to look up.
