I tend to agree. There was something about it that bugged me, but I couldn't specify -- I think that's what it is. Probably would look better with 3 gold/2 white stripes, gold on top & bottom.

That strays a bit from the away jersey's arrangement as far as stripe/numeral color arrangement, but a minor element that could make a a positive difference.
That's why most old school jerseys have a thinner white stripe not all the same thickness. I'll hold out my final judgement until I see a full picture.

i think the straight lines of the sleeve stripes (and trice patch) have an old school feel and it makes the tapered neck design look out of place. the triangle section of the neck seems like the perfect spot for the funnel logo. the sleeve stripes don't look as awkward if you flip flop the gold and white. i agree that the front number looks a little out of whack, so i tweaked that a bit as well.

The sleeve stripes on our current jerseys makes SO much more sense and are simply awesome. They resemble the storm symbol used on meteorological maps.

Agreed. It's unique to Iowa State. If I was the uni czar I'd take the current shoulder design and make it bigger on the shoulder and add an accent color to it (gold + white accent on the cardinal jersey, red + gold accent on the white jersey, leave the black alone just white).
My issue with the design currently is that it's too small and with the tight uniforms they wear the actual striping would get pulled under the pads and not seen sometimes.

Definite upgrade, I think. Striping much sharper 3Y/2W.

I realize the concept of prototype is maybe making white "pop" more, but your versions has better subtlety.

i think it looks fine to have white stripes on the outsides with only 3 layers (like on the chiefs red unis), but with 5 stripes and beyond it gets awkward looking...unless you mix in the contrast of the cardinal jersey, in this case. View attachment 126827
The last two on the right are definitely the best looking. (if they are going the way of the stripe)

3 or 5. Hate 1 and 2, 4 doesn't add anything specific to ISU, 6 I don't like more white than gold.

Nice work.

I’d rank it (lettered options, starting on left):
1. E
2. B
3. F
4. C
5. A
6. D
—> F might be ranked a little too high, but 2 white stripes seems to connect well w/ the white numerals. Might be easier to tell with full jersey ... and, of course, some preferences depend a lot on entire uniform/helmet choices.

The edited version is nice, I'd take that all day. Lots of uni combos could be done with these.

This can’t be the same “cardinal” as on our current uniforms, right? It looks brighter and redder. More like McDonald’s.

Needs to be darker.

I think vertical stripes look the best. Having horizontal confuses the non die hard fans that are just getting used to the 5-bar Trice logo.
