A sober LE with the coaching staff he brought from Utah S was a great coach. A hungover LE or drunken LE with a new staff was not! Since we ended up with the latter, Let's stick with GMac and at least give him a chance.

Good point, Larry's original staff had some great assistant coaches on it. Terry Carroll and Leonard Perry left for head coaching jobs and Perry is acutally an assistant in the NBA for the Pacers right now.

This is a stupid topic to be debating right now. And to whoever said LE could not recruit at the HS level: does Jake Sullivan, Shane Power, Adam Haluska, Jared Homan ring a bell? Yes Power and Haluska left but they were still solid players that LE recruited.

Enough of these LE vs WM vs GMac and DMac vs Chizik threads. It's like a pi$$ing contest and doesn't do any good. Focus on the present and future, what is done in the past has no influence on what happens from here on out.

Add Tinsley and Horton to that from the JC level and LE could flat out recruit and flat out coach. I like GMAC and wonder why we are talking about this but we will NEVER have that kind of success again and you can write that down, take it to the bank, etc.

LE had 2 great years, the next two years were NIT and nothing. LE is a solid coach, but he caught lightning in a bottle with Fizer and Tinsley.

I always felt having LE at coach was like selling your soul to the devil. Sure he put a couple great teams together, but some of the kids he recruited were not the best citizens and I don't feel academics were a big priority.

I believe G-Mac will get ISU to be a Big 12 contender. However, even if he doesn't I'm 100% sure that he'll recruit quality kids.

He won 8 conference titles in 8 years at three different schools. Yet that is "lightning in a bottle"? LMAO!:twitcy:

Keep the nominations for stupidest post of the year coming, you have a great chance to win.
