If money wasn't an issue....

I want Kirk Herbstreit's job. He get to talk college football 24/7 and then gets on a jet and gets to see the best game of the week. That is my kind of job.

Farmer

That or professional fisherman.

This one plus a couple more.

Resort owner in northern Minnesota/Canada or Table Rock Lake.
Fishing guide in Cabo.
Own a fishing shop.
Run a ski trail groomer (got to drive one 9 years ago and I was hooked).
Be a Carny, specifically the potato sack slide.

Someday one of these will happen, might not be for a while but someday.

This would be an awesome gig but I would provide much less Big 10 bias and actually not look like a total tool.

I would work a ski lift in Summit County somewhere or take a minimum wage job working in a movie/music store and just talk shop all day.

Member of roving chain gang team for college football, provided I got to pick the game, and get to tailgate beforehand. After all, how sober do you have to be to do that?

I did that, not in Summit County but at Steamboat. It's not all it's cracked up to be. Great perks with the job but while working a god chunk of people were absolute a-holes. Most were good but the bad ones were about as bad as they can get. Bad enough that now that I have kids I am very conscious of how i act towards other people with my kids around. Dads of very rich families while on vacation are the worst people I have ever met in the world.

bartender in an English or Irsish pub over in the old country

And if I can retire from my current job at 55 like I plan too, maybe I can make the above
a reality.

Carny. Travel a lot, work with interesting people, what's not to love?

Seriously, I think that something along the lines of a historian, librarian or archivist would be cool. Or a recording studio engineer.

I'd probably do the same thing I do now, but work for myself. Unfortunately being a test engineer requires a ton of very expensive equipment, so the likelihood of ever starting my own lab is low. But I think it would be fun to work with a huge variety of clients, tinkering with their stuff, figuring out how well it works.

From some of the responses here, I don't think we are really answering the question.

Several are posting their "dream" job -- all which are going to be financially lucrative -- so, of course money isn't an issue.

Not entirely true... Example:

I'd love to be a pro golfer, but I'm definitely not good enough. To get good enough, I would need to spend a small fortune on equipment, coaching, & practicing. Not to mention I'd have to quit my current job so I could practice all the time.

Other things like owning a bar or store would also take a lot to get started.

Own a combination record store/bar.

That way my customers could get a beer, browse around and talk music.

I'd only work when I wasn't travelling though. I'd take lots of little trips all over the place. This of course is assuming I had an infinite amount of money.

Road crew for the Drive-By Truckers.

Brilliant.

Phenomenal idea.

500-1000 capacity concert venue owner

That would be very cool as well.

Another thing I'd do is spend a couple years touring the country, seeing a bunch of concerts, college football games, and visiting out of the way bars/restaurants. Hit the road for a couple weeks, come home for a couple, etc.

Then I'd write a book about the whole thing.

Ask the guys that did the Mizzou - Colorado game years ago that gave CU a 5th down and helped them to remain unbeaten. :biglaugh:

I would invest half of it in low risk mutual funds and then take the other half over to my friend Asadulah who works in securities.

Exactly. Who do you think they were tailgating with?

Feed me nasty brats and Bud Light? You get 4 downs.

A little ribeye with some Smithwicks to wash it down? "Whoops. I must have forgotten to advance the Dial-A-Down."
