We all love the talk of the recruiting made by our coaching staff. Get the best players we can to fill the positions on our team. My spin on this is that, we, the alumni/fans of ISU need to do our own recruiting. If everyone of us diehards that go to the games every game day can get two people to come to games next year it will greatly improve attendance. Think about this, if we have 16,000 diehard fans that attend games every game day and they bring 2 other people with them to the game that gives us 48,000 in the seats every week, and with students/other fans this will easily push us up over 50,000 every game. This does not sound all that tough a job, so lets get out there and do our own recruiting to get fans in the seats to support the team and university that we all love!

Awesome, let me know where the season tickets you are buying me are going to be .

We all know Rhoads wears his feelings on his sleeve, so you have to be prepared to take the good with the bad. He tells his players exactly where he stands so there's no reason to think he won't speak his mind about us.

I'd be willing to bet what bothers him is the beginning of the game and the second half when there are maybe 10k in the stands.

Do you really think this is Rhoads talking? Or is he being put up to this by Pollard? The whiney tone sounds more like Pollard than Rhoads. It almost sounds like Pollard wrote some ****** for Rhoads. It doesn't have the same "right from my gut" sound as most of what Rhoads says.

Edited to ask why the word "s c r i p t" got blotted out?

That is crazy, you have a link to where you saw that?

It would have to be Oregon if true.

Update: Oregon averaged close to 60,000 this year (356,387 over 6 games)

Auburn averaged over 86,000 (688,692 over 8 games)

I guess you can't believe everything you read on the internet

Especially if he's on the sidelines next year? Why is this even a question?

I expect, and all Cyclone fans should expect PR to be here a long time. We finally have a coach that wants to be here and we need to get out of this paranoid mode that our coach is always going to want to leave.

I know this seems like a stretch but in case you haven't noticed cyclone nation seems to get kick in the jewels a lot. anytime something good comes along we are used to it getting taken. Sooooo until some pieces stayed locked, you will have people saying it will all fall apart or waiting for it to fall apart. our school and programs cant take to many hits because they have no base and fall to the very bottom with no parachute. Especially with the supposed big wigs saying 'what a good job he does and what is he doing at a place like IA state'. They don't want to give us any credit nor a chance ever to get any. And they're right to a certain extent since any coach that leaves here goes to were they have more than 2 recruits in the state and the program has some more tradition than its running back getting trampled and dying; so they get to build a winning program and make us look like we dont belong in a bcs AQ conference (which with our facilities and program I quite frankly think we do good, and hopefully more in the future).

So I can understand this discussion and I have started threads to the similar. So until things go our way (WHICH THEY ARE STARTING TO) yes we need to worry or we will end up with FCS status.

If I were CPR...I'd leave if this opportunity arose.....
Heinz Field> Jack Trice Stadium
More fertile recruiting ground
More $$$$...They are bound to pay CPR more than Wannstedt
Larger television Market....
Easier chance to get to a BCS bowl
Don't have to play all of the "Texas 10" every year....
More prestigious program

Why I wouldn't:
Purely lateral move
Family and home close by
Less pressures of the job
Loyalty.....
More job security in terms of a pay raise because JP wants to keep the ball coach...

Heinz field is a NFL stadium but it is shared, is not located on campus, and they don't come close to filling it so it looks empty most of the time

More fertile recruiting ground maybe but the rust belt is dying and the Big 10 raids that area every year.

More $$$? I would be surprised if they did. Pitt's total athletic budget is only $3 million more than ISU.

Larger TV market maybe but no one watches and it is less TV revenue.

Easier to get to a BCS bowl?...for now. The Big East is in jeopardy of losing BCS status unless their champions start ranking higher. I believe BCS status is up for review in 2013 (I think). That is a big reason they brought in TCU.

More prestigious program? Maybe in the early 80's but that was a long, long time ago.

It would be strictly a lateral move

Check their recruiting classes and star players are from: NY and Pennsylvania

Do you actually have proof of this?

They have an all time win pct. of 57%....14 NFL draft picks since 2005....They are ranked 20th in All Time wins...6 NFL Hall of Famers......
That has been stated....

Here's my 2 cents if anyone gives a crap...

I find it hard to believe that there aren't at least 45k+ ISU fans willing to go to a game. I'm an alumni, an avid fan, and I go to the games no matter the temperature or our record. I've sat through some great wins but I've also sat through a lot of butt whippings and stayed to support OUR team. I feel if it's possible, come out and support the team. Hell, even wear a coat if it's cold!

I also find it amazing that our highest attendance game so far was the ISU-UNI game 3 yrs ago(correct me if I'm wrong on the years). I realize it was an all Iowa fan base but come on.. ISU-Nebraska this year should have been more. It was good weather, last time we play(in conference anyway), and an overall huge game.

Anyone that comes to tailgate and doesn't go into the game should be stripped of their ISU clothing and escorted off the property. So you come to the game but can't walk 100-200 yards into the stadium. LAME!

And lastly, if you're an Iowa fan...Leave your ****** Iowa shirt or coat at home. You look like a *********.

Go Clones!

Biggest reason they don't come in is that they're consuming beverages that aren't served in the stadium. I admit to drinking my share of those beverages, too, but with a three hour drive from Omaha to Ames both before and after the games, it makes tailgating tough, especially for those night games. I'd rather go to the game if I'm driving that far. I save the beer for watching games on TV.
