I recently went thru and cleaned my computer to get rid of the Live Security Platinum virus. As a result, when I open an internet browser, it automatically comes up as AVG Secure Search. I just want it to go to google.com....any computer gurus have tips?

Thanks

If you're using Chrome:
1) Click on the wrench in the upper right corner
2) Select Tools then Extensions
3) AVG Secure Search should be listed. Click on the trashcan to remove AVG Secure Search

I have stopped installing antiviruses on my computers. Half the time they are bigger drains on resources than they are a help if you know what you are doing.

thanks everyone I got it to work.

unfortunately I have a new computer problem. every time I start windows either in normal or safe mode I get a message that says "windows has encountered a critical problem and we will
restart automatically in 1 minute" I have researched a couple solutions but can't get too far into them because my computer shuts down on me. any help?

Follow the below methods:
1. Disable the Automatic Restart to prevent the restarts on system failure:
a. Click on start
b. Right click on Computer
c. Click on Properties
d. In System Properties Window
e. Click on Advanced system settings
f. Click on Advanced tab
g. Uncheck the option: Automatically restart

This will get you out of a restart.

Or you can hit cmd and type shutdown -a that should stop the error.

Make sure all your drivers and updates have been downloaded. And virus scan have been run. MSE and malwarebytes are good.
