I get to pick and plan the honeymoon which is at the end of next July. I am considering 3 places and I would like opinions please. If you have other recommendations I'm open to those.

1. Maine
2. Mackinac Island in Michigan
3. Lake Tahoe

Hey, I'm planning honeymoon too! Next June to be exact. I am also looking for ideas for vacation spots. Trouble is we're not 25, so we can't rent a car. So we are looking for something that is within reasonable driving distance.

We were looking at Colorado or something like that because we wanted to stay in some cabins in the great outdoors. Any suggestions on cool outdoorsy/cabin-y places around the midwest-ish?

Also, I am intrigued by this Mackinac Island. Info anyone?

I'm pretty sure you dont have to be 25 to rent a car if you are married....

Never been to Maine.

Mackinac Island is an amazing place. Very laid back and slow moving. I'd consider it a little more romantic than active.
Greetings from Mackinac Island, Michigan

Lake Tahoe is also a great spot, a lot to do. If you and the wife to be are more the active type, I'd choose here out of your three.

Of the three Maine would be most appealing to me. Every one I know that has been to Maine has absolutely loved it.

Rocky Mountain National Park. Wife and I went there on our honeymoon. It was perfect for us. Brewerys nearby, hiking, scenery for photography, seclusion , etc.

Wife and I did a two day whitewater rafting trip in Colorado before heading for a week of drunkiness in Cabo. If I could do it all over again I would spend more time just travelling around Colorado. Go out skiing and fly fishing in Colorado 2-3 times a year and it never gets old out there.

If you are looking for something closer to home I would look into Minnesota's north shore around Two Harbors and Lutsen areas. Lots of cool resorts and cabins right on Lake Superior. The little towns along the lake are pretty cool laid back towns. Great hiking, canoeing, mountain biking, etc up there. From the Ames area it is only about a five to six hour drive. That is one of my wife and I's favorite place. Would love to own a place up there some day.

So young.
There are car rentals that rent to people 21 and up if you are wiling to pay a fee.

Acadia in Maine is fun. I've flown into Boston and Montreal- Boston is quicker, but I like Montreal.

We took our honeymoon in Maine 13 years ago, but it was in early October so the fall colors were a primary reason. I had never been in that part of the country so we chose it. Stayed in a beach town call Old Orchard Beach in between Portland and Kennebunkport. Visited both places and drove one day to Canada along the Kennebunk River. It was after Labor Day the Pier we stayed by was shut down but we loved not having a lot of people around. Stayed in a fairly cheap hotel overlooking the Casco Bay. It was great. Took a ferry ride to one of the islands and toured Longfellow's home. Great seafood obviously.

I always wanted to go to Mackinac Island since "Somewhere in Time" is one of my favorite movies. I would propably go that route in July and hit the NE in the fall some other time.

Been to Tahoe twice for business but its been in November.

I honeymooned in New Hampshire, and spent a day in Portland, early July, and it was simply gorgeous! We hope to make it back and go to Acadia NP some day.

Yes I agree, my brother was under 25 when he got married and rented a car for his honeymoon.
