I went back to look at the Hidden Yards discussed by Jeff and Grant on today's pod. Interesting when you factor in the hidden yards by possession. They took a 151 yard advantage in the first 4 drives then pretty close the rest of the way (they were plus 30 in the final 11 drives).
I did not include penalty yards in this. They were not a huge factor in yardage. However, they really impacted our first couple of drives. If ISU picks up a first downs on those first two drives (they had 3rd & 2 before penalties) those could have been big factors into the field position battle. That was a big difference early and really was a challenge for us through most of the game. Our INT set them up for 7 yard drive and a field goal, their INT we needed to drive 75 yards for the TD. We scored 4 more points, but needed 68 more Offensive yards. Net, the Offensive yard advantage we had (+58) is wiped out by the +181 hidden yards that iowa got... This is always a key factor in the game.
