Maybe. I really think with as windy as JTS is, ISU needs to have a run-based spread offense. Something like Oregon or RichRod runs. You can get away throwing the ball 50+ times a game when it's 72 degrees and sunny in November in Texas. Not so much when there are gale-force winds in Jack Trice.

I have to agree with this, something that uses a lot of bubble screens and misdirection running plays for the QB/HB/WRs. We are now getting the speed and blocking ability on the corners to pull these types of plays off with consistency.

And that deodorant Herbstreit's always pimping on that commercial about how he shouldn't have gotten his job.

You mean Dove for men? That's stuff doesn't exactly scream manly, and I would advise against it.

I think there is a lot of talk about offensive prowess on the field but won't we also need someone who has significant recruiting ties to TX? That was Herman's terrritory, so getting someone with good O stats and familiarity with TX high schools would be ideal.

My guess is that at least half of the spread offenses run by Texas high schools are "Tony Franklin based" spreads. (He has been holding training courses, for high school coaches, for quite a few years, in Texas.)

So, basically he has connections at most Texas high schools. I want this guy.

"Walk in and own the job. It shows commitment and leadership."
"Use the phrases "Like a Boss" and "#winning" to describe yourself as well."
"Don't forget your swagger."

Thank you guys for the advice. I'll keep you updated on my progress.

I just want an OC that knows that if we score more points than the other team, we will win...

Grant Mahoney! He understands how critical it is for the offense to score touchdowns rather then settle for FG's because it puts too much pressure on the kicking game. He will also go for 2 point conversions a lot like Chip Kelly because it's asking a lot for kickers to have to make more then 1 PAT per game. :swoon:

I have a question... why did Tom Herman take a position coach job at a Big 10 School (which I understand is a great football school...) when he was already an O-Coordinator at a Big-12 school?

He's the OC in waiting, while they figure out how to get rid of the current interim-HC

Pretty Sure Tony Franklin is the reason Chizik is at Auburn right now. His offenses sucked.

Sucked under Tuberville. Who happens to suck now too. Coincidence?
Wasn't he an OC for about 6 games or so at Auburn before he was run outta town? He had no time to get the right players in, or even get the current players to be ALL IN....I don't think he'd have that problem at ISU

Don't label Franklin off that one incident. Tubberville basically pulled a 180 in offensive coaching styles by going from a power style offense to bringing in Franklin and expected it to be successful right away with players recruited to fit the power style offense. That is not Franklin's fault and frankly Tubs was dumb for trying it.

Sounds good to me then! I was thinking Frost would be a nice up and comer to grab on to with his familiarity with the area and his run based spread offense now but he seems to be a west coast type recruiter (and a good one). Franklin's familiarity with TX high school ball would be a huge advantage in the recruiting there.

I'm sure Frost would do pretty well if given the opportunity to recruit TX though. Having young, talented guys like him and Shane recruiting the big states of TX/FLA would be awesome!!
