Help Me Understand Going For Two

Cool but OU didn't get to the red zone in the 4th quarter so the defense wasn't terrible all night.

They sort of were the reason ISU was in a position to win the game.
The defense wins that game if they can convert one of the touchdown passes Hurts tried to hand them.

I don't like the result but love the call to go for 2. One play to take the lead? Hell yes.

Over the long run more talented teams tend to win. We had no business being in the position we were in. See if you can make one more play.
I love our quarterback and our offense, but OU’s offense has loads more talent across the board. Going from the 25, they had the decided advantage—including a reliable placekicker.

Just for an example, look what happened once Baylor managed to get TCU into overtime.

I agree with going for 2, but there is zero reason ou should ever have been ahead by that much, the piss poor offense in the first half against one of the worst defenses is the country really put us in a hole. People act like ou has 5 stars everywhere, that ou defense is atrocious, and we did nothing for the first half against it.

Loved the call.

What everyone else has said....Hurts in short field, kicking woes for us, etc.

And, you know how this game went we.would.have false started a couple times in OT and drive ourselves.out of FG range, lol.

Overtime periods start at the 25, smaller field, I don’t trust our defense, especially our sencondary.

As they said on the broadcast, OU goes for the haymaker in the first quarter. Most teams fold. We struggled to get going in that environment. Once we settled down, we were able to play with them.

Alabama should. They have more talent than nearly everyone they play. We don't. Talent tends to win in the long run. OU has the talent advantage. Take your shot.
Oklahoma also had 7 points compared to 20 in the fourth quarter. Their secondary needed to make one play when we went for two, but would’ve needed to string together a bunch of good plays to stop us in overtime. They were trending down and we were the better team in the second half, so I respectfully disagree with you.

It was the right call and the right play and they freaking made it if there wasn’t horrendous pass interference.

I’m so sick of “let them play”. Not calling penalties is the exact opposite of letting them play. That’s deciding who wins by letting obvious penalties go.
