Did you go to that? I'm glad I didn't if it was bad.
Mike Jones wasn't just bad... He single-handedly installed himself in campus legend. Seriously- I've had prospective students, who don't even GO here yet, say they've heard about that concert. It was a spectacle, to say the least.

Jones showed up late to his show (an hour or something like that), then performed for about 30 minutes and left. People were pissed about it.
There's a little more to it than that.

He showed up nearly an hour late. He was the headliner act, and there were thousands of people there, most of them drunk by that point. (I've heard ISUPD say 12,000 people, but no way to know.) So he shows up, and his agent/publicist dude comes up onstage and starts trash-talking the crowd. The two things that I specifically recall are a slam against the state of Iowa, and this line: "Mike Jones is sitting 40 feet behind this stage in a car that's worth more than your lives!"

Mike eventually comes up on stage, well over an hour late by now. It is immediately apparent that he is not only more drunk than the audience, but also high as a kite. He takes the mic and slurs to the crowd for a couple minutes, then starts performing. He gets through the first verse of the song, sings the chorus, and then asks, "WHO?!" and holds the mic out to the audience, who responds with, "MIKE JONES!!" He does it again, and the audience complies. And again. And again. And again. And again. By now people are getting tired of it, since this isn't even part of the song, and they stop answering so loudly. Mike stops singing entirely, talks for a minute, then starts a new song. Same deal: sing the first verse, sing part of the chorus, then a round of "WHO?!" "MIKE JONES!!" until people stop doing it.

This happened on every single song. He never completed a song. He never even got past a chorus. Probably 20% of his stage time was spent doing the "WHO?!" "MIKE JONES!!" crap. People got angrier as the show went on and it was apparent that he was incompetent and disrespectful. Mike decided that he was bored with performing and abruptly decided to take off. By the time he left the stage, he had 'performed' (if you can call it that) for about 40 minutes out of a contracted 85-minute show. People were PISSED. Fortunately, everyone decided to just go home (or go drink more) instead of cause any trouble. (To squelch any rumors- NO, that crowd did NOT almost riot. People were mad, but by no stretch of the imagination was there going to be a riot.)

There you go- the legend of Mike Jones, the man who ruined VEISHEA concerts for everyone forever.
