Yeah, had the same thought at first...but after a few rewatches there was that little stumble/misdirection as he entered the lane that might have been enough to let the defender make a play (and we know the way they were letting them play at the end likely no foul would be called, even if heavy contact).
He also is such a good, confident 3 pt shooter that step back/fade type shot is something he seems very comfy with.
I really wish the toe wasn't on the line...i know they still won, but a win with the high bounce would have been officially a "game winner"...but this was just right there along with the comeback.
That was not the worst shot possible. He had created space and was squared up to the basket when he let it go. Come on, man.

He's also been draining that same shot to win games all year and even hit an almost identical one to win a playoff game already. His big shots and the Pacer comebacks aren't flukes at this point.
A fade away long two is a really bad shot. He did have a lot of space, that's true. "The worst shot" was hyperbolic, but it wasn't a good shot. Really glad it went in though.
How does he even think about that so quickly? He immediately went to the choke and pointed toward the Knicks bench. Was he pointing at Spike Lee? Oh, I hope so. That would make it even better. After this season, they may need to do a Part 2 to the ESPN 30 for 30 on "Winning Time.

Have you watched Haliburton the past few years? I'd trust him with that more than most Cyclone college players with a crunch time layup.
Obviously he meant for it to be a 3 to end the game but it's not really a bad shot for him. It's a bad shot for pretty much any college player and all but maybe 5-10 NBA players.
Do you understand the player guarding him has possibly the longest wingspan of any player besides Wemby? Going anywhere toward that player was death, especially knowing he had already been getting hammered with no foul call. His choices were what he did or passing off. He's the best decision maker in the sport right now including this decision going full court with 7 seconds.
Hopefully he found Stephen A Smith and pointed at him too.
He kind of points all over the place, but when he really focused in on someone at the end I thought it was Reggie to share that moment.
I believe he was pointing to Reggie Miller. There is a ton of playoff history between the Knicks and the Pacers. Reggie's choke sign in MSG during the playoffs is an iconic moment for the Pacers. In my opinion, Tyrese was just paying tribute to the history of the rivalry.
Post game Tyrese said he was planning to shoot a 2, but his defender tipped the ball on his drive and it caused him to regather. At that point he then had a big in front of him so he dribbled back out to create space and basically took the same shot he made against the Cavs.
Tyrese with a chip on his shoulder is really fun to watch. “Not going to play me in the Olympics? Going to call me overrated? OK- watch this ****.”

Every league needs a heel and I think he’d be great at it, especially since he’s actually such a nice guy
When they lost at FIBA two years ago with team USA I really think it was because they had a stupid platoon system and they paired Ant-Man with Brunson and almost never played Ant/Hali at the same time. Those were the three best players along with maybe Austin Reeves, but having Haliburton as the distributor with the best teammates would have made more sense.
