Group tour of IRELAND?

Turn to BYUTV if you have it. Darby O'Gill and the Little People is on. My advice would be to jump down every well you find. Be careful though, those little guys are magical.
I'm planning on going to Ireland early next year but don't plan on doing a tour. The driving seems relatively easy compared to other places I've driven. It also looks like it will be pretty economical.
My problem with group tours:
There is always going to be at least one person who annoys the hell out of me.
I like to go at my own pace, which is usually faster.
Part of the fun is planning before hand where you want to go.
With sites like Tripadvisor it makes choosing a hotel pretty easy.

I don't know your travel situation/preferences, but imo group anything when traveling sucks pretty bad. I hate being at the mercy of strangers always holding things up. Large group sizes also guarantee you'll never hit a destination without 6 billion other tourists around.
I agree with dmclone, do some research and plan everything yourself. Take a chance man, you don't live forever.

Was in Ireland a few years ago to visit a family member. Best part of the trip was getting to drive on those narrow country roads.
I've used Globus before and I'm traveling with them again this summer (Rome to London). They do a great job. Globus is more expensive but they book better hotels with better locations. 100 percent true, we rented a car in Dublin and drove in a big arc to get to Galway where we flew back home from. You can go wherever you want, do whatever you want. The driving is a blast, but it does seem less safe with the roads that wind back on themselves and the stone walls that basically come up to the edge of the road. The roads are very narrow and driving in town can be a very tight squeeze. We were able to go to smaller towns that you wouldn't usually see on tours. I recommend stopping through Kinsale, it's south of Cork. Really cool little town with shopping, plenty of bars and interesting bed and breakfasts.
Went to Ireland in 2010. Had a great time. Don't do a group tour for all the reasons previously listed. We went in the 'shoulder season' right after the main tourist season. Everything is still open, less crowds. We went the first of September. Bought a package through Dan Dooley, that included airfare, rental ar, and vouchers for B&Bs. Their travel system is based on B&Bs. You set your own pace, stay where you want and have a great time.

Another vote for ditching the tour and doing it yourself. Went for Spring Break this year to visit our daughter studying in Cork, had a blast! Driving on the left and shifting with the left hand, lots of fun. Get or rent a Garmin, makes getting around really easy.
Aww I thought this thread would be you trying to put a group of CFers together to go on a trip to Ireland.
