Get a gift certificate for one nights lodging at a nice hotel. Choose a hotel that has an attached restaurant and an indoor pool/whirlpool area. You don't need to go far or spend a lot of money. If you have kids... get rid of them for one night. The idea is to just park the car, relax and enjoy each others company. Also, take the time to pick out a well-written card to put the gift certificate in. Never a bad idea to put the envelope in some kind of a gift-wrapped box (so she has something to open too).

Not sure, but don't get her a watch. There's a clock on the stove.

I'm a lucky guy that have both Valentine's Day and a Birthday to account for regarding gifts this month.

My thoughts were something book related - as she likes to read, and then a bathroom kit of sorts (soap, salts, candles, etc.)

Anyone, as my local hardware store is out of stock, I'm lost as to where to start.

Others had any luck?

Also, I preface this thread by saying lets keep this safe for work, thank you!

Let me preface this by saying that I am a 24 year old woman. I also am excessively practical, so I really enjoy practical gifts, although not all women do.

Tickets to a play = good idea (although I would prefer tickets to a sporting event, myself).
A massage is also a lovely idea. Seriously lovely.
Women also love to take pictures, so a camera may work.
Some of you are making jokes about being in the kitchen - and I love getting kitchen items. I would kill someone for a Kitchenaid mixer, but giving kitchen items isn't a good idea for every woman.
Don't buy ugly jewelry. Necklaces are nice, but men often have ****** taste when picking them out. My ex once bought me a necklace with a pink stone in the shape of a heart. I hate pink, and I hate heart-shaped jewelry.
I'm cheap and don't spend money on going out to eat. Perhaps a nice date night could be appropriate - a nice, expensive meal complete with wine and multiple courses, including dessert, is awesome.
I have a friend whose boyfriend took her to Coach and told her to pick something out. She loved it.

Fly in the Ointment men!! Play it cool.....we have been discovered!

Once upon a time, there was ISU lingerie. However, times (and logos) have changed. I don't know if the I-State logo (and new color scheme) exists in ladies "intimate apparel".

Don't listen to whomever said Walmart has cute jewelry.

Also a woman, and I would agree with the spa certificate, hotel idea, coach and/or tickets to a play/show. But, this would all depend on if she would like any of those things. Oh, always stay away from the kitchen gadgets, unless you know she really wants it and would appreciate that type of gift.
