One of these things takes a serious amount of money

The other takes 5 minutes

The football pep band can wait - Football season is over.

First priority - GET THE FREAKIN BAND AT HILTON SOMETHING WITH THE NEW LOGO!

Ok, I get it, the dorky almost-hockey jerseys are a "mini-tradition." I get it, they used to look cool in 1996. (By the way, anything that looked cool in the 1990's is by definition not cool anymore...)

The old logo is just that - old. We don't use it anymore. And we sure as hell don't use navy blue anymore.

Yeah I'm sure it'll take a couple hundred bones to get the band some updated dorky hockey jerseys with the new logo. (I'm still scratching my head wondering why the hockey jerseys???). Until then, where a t-shirt with the new logo or something. Give them a Cyclone Alley t-shirt for crying out loud.

Anything with the old logo/colors bothers me and it looks tacky when the entire athletic department has put so much focus on bringing everything else (especially within Hilton) up to speed on the new logo. The old crap looks bad on TV.

The entire football pep band - I can understand that is a lot of money to replace all those uniforms. Having the Hilton band wear something, ANYTHING with the new logo isn't too much to ask. And don't play the "money" card. It can't be that much money we're talking about here...

Ok, ok. I'll donate $20 to get this initiative started.

Send it to the music dept. because
a)athletics does not pay to outfit those bands

and

b)they're good people and deserve it

That's who I was talking about. Seems weird that with all that the pep band does for game atmosphere for basketball and volleyball that the athletic department can't scrape up a few hundred $$ for some nice sweaters with the current logo.

I agree the hockey jerseys are cheesy. Not sure whatelse they would wear tho. cyclone alley tshirts would be nice but then the band would look cheap.

When the whole change of logo happened the athletic department told the band department that it had to get new uniforms. The band told them that they would have to pay some of it also because they are going to have to replace brand new uniforms for the marching band just because of the logo. From my understanding the athletic department said no and that is why nothing has been bought.

To replace all of the uniforms for the marching band you are talking some serious cash. When my high school bought new uniforms it was around $100,000 to do it.

The hate for the hockey jerseys on here has surprised me the couple times its come up. We always made fun of OTHER bands for their pep band uniforms. I think the hockey jerseys, minus the outdated logo, are pretty cool compared to the khakis and polo look most of the other bands in the conference have. The only thing I'd maybe switch to would be jeans and rugby-style shirts, similar to Minnesota. But the ISU band has a good rep as a band that has a fun attitude and gets into the games and I really do believe that starts with the look of the band.

Whenever a team goes dancing, the NCAA ponies up a nice daily stipend to each pepband member- like $100 a day. It seems to me that the AD should have some say in outfitting the band.

The NCAA does not pay for that, it comes out of athletics pocket. I also think the amount they've been able to provide for that has been significantly less the past year or two.

I only made it to one football game this year, but I didn't see the old bird logo on the marching band uniforms. It used to be that the front cover on the uniform would have the bird logo and then would flip over at halftime to just Cyclones on a stripe. I thought the band now just sticks with the "Cyclones" and doesn't flip the cover. Is the old logo somewhere else?

FALSE!!! We always got a $40 a day stipend for food. $7 for breakfest, $13 for lunch and $20 for dinner. And it does come from the athletic department.

Yes, there is the old style "flaming" ISU on the back of the uniforms. Color scheme is a little off too.

No they don't "flip the bird" to the other team anymore.

Ha, I was gonna get on his case for this too, but then I figured that number may also include hotel, transportation, pay for a director, etc...it probably does come out closer to that.

Somebody should send Pollard an email or give him a call about the SI site. That one is easy to fix. Complain and send the new Logo files. The band is obviously a harder situation to fix but I agree that things need to change there too.
