When are you leaving, where you staying, tailgaiting, etc?
We have tickets to the game just looking for some info for the town and atmosphere.

AustinCyclone is right- aggies love college station, but in my opinion it's terrible and as a Baylor student living in Waco, I know a lot about living in a terrible city. On weekends when we don't have home games and there's not a big fraternity party planned, me and my friends love to go to Austin to party on 6th street or around campus. Austin has great live music, awesome bars, and hands down the best variety of quality food in Texas. College Station has some cool spots, but they're basically dominated by backwards aggie hick country joints. I have friends at A&M and they love college station, but everyone I know who isn't an aggie hates visiting there. I won't stay the night in College Station anymore.

I couldn't disagree more with the last two posts. Went to College Station on Halloween in '05. The Aggie fans were extremely courteous, mostly interested in drinking beer and talking football. Plenty of fun to be had in campus town, no need to trek to Austin. Save that trip for another year.

Im pretty sure the Dallas, Austin, and Houston ISU alumni groups are putting together a pretty big tailgate. Im looking forward to it. I have a lot of Aggie friends and sounds like CS is a pretty typical college town. Yeah its no Austin, but it should still be fun.

I did this exact same thing last time we went to College Station. (Todd Blythe caught 3 tds and we rolled A&M) I went to Austin after the game for Halloween night. It was pretty awesome.

The main thing I remember about A&M fans are that they are the nicest fans in the nation. We **** pounded them and they still were giving us food and beers after the game. They are so nice. Be nice to everyone down there and have a great time.

Could someone that knows please explain what "The Dixie Chicken" is, and why I've been told I should avoid that place at all cost while in College Station??

Dixie Chicken is a bar. I don't know why you'd avoid it, the burgers are good, the Shiner flows cheap. I've gone there after both MBB games and had a good time.

Go to Laynes. Good chicken strips.

I'm headed over with as many Clones and Ags as I can get. I think we're going to have some students pull tickets for us. Accomodations are not set yet.

You know you coulda just taken a red-eye back to the promised land (Ames) and rode with us in some P.O.S. down there and hoped to make it back safely. For some reason going to Boulder last year made me glad just to get back alive.

That would be fun (did the reverse last year, flew to Texas and drove up to Ames) but I've already got my road road trip for this year (driving to Kent St), I'm heading straight to Houston to hang out with Superfan for a day or two before the game... otherwise I'd have been tempted to take you up on that (nothing like a good 16 or so hour trip overnight and showing up in the opposing team's town without hardly having slept, then getting straight to tailgating!)

This will be our group's third trip to A & M. Stayed in Austin the first time and it was great! Stayed in CS last time and it was just okay. This year we are staying in Houston. Flying down Thursday am and playing golf Thursday and Friday. We tailgate with a group of Iowa State grads that work down there each time we go. A&M is one of the better game day experiences you will have in the Big 12 with the parade and stuff before the game. I swear they can seat almost as many in the endzones as we have in our whole stadium!

This is the facebook message we got from a fellow fanatic, and trout if you read this, chime in:

7 tickets purchased...best available....$435.00/7 = $62.14/ticket.

The juice is running b******. The dude said the tickets will be mailed two weeks prior to the game. So does that mean I won't find out where we're sitting until two weeks prior??

You'd think you could figure out exactly where you are sitting instantly when you buy the tickets. Guess they shuffle you around based on highest contribution ranking until 2 weeks prior to the game.

If you buy them from the ISU allocation you do not know where they are until they are mailed to you no matter what your donation level. The visiting team allocation at A & M is like everywhere, lower level corner on the ISU side of the field.
