Food Challenges

I've been watching a lot of Man vs. Food lately and I was wondering if there were any challenges in the Ames/Des Moines area.

Buffalo Wild Wings has the blazn' wings challenge. Never done it but I will soon.

You can always come into West Cyde and do the inferno wings challenge. Gotta do 20 wings in 10 minutes and only get 1 glass of water.

Coincedently, a friend of mine was flying back in to Des Moines on Thursday and saw Adam Richman at the DSM airport. I have a feeling he was doing something with the fair, and was also curious on what food challenges that we would have in Des Moines.

There should be a Hickory Park challenge so Man vs. Food could come to Ames. I LOVE that show.

My wife told me that she heard he was at El Bait Shop and Royal Mile shooting the show and that you had to buy tickets to the show.

Not sure if they still have it but I did a margarita challenge at La Fuente's when I was in school. I can't remember the exact details but it wasn't very challenging.

The only pizza challenge I know of in Central Iowa is the Maui Waui one.

Thats kinda the reason why they did that. Most people think it helps but it doesn't. Gotta make it challenging. The original challenge was 20 wings but you didnt have any time restraints or anything. So they included a time limit and drink restrictions.

Water does not make the burn worse. It doesn't help past washing the spiciness out of your mouth or distracting your nerves, but in no way does it make it worse.

I haven't lived in Des Moines for a while, but Big Daddy's BBQ used to have a challenge that required you to eat a BBQ pork sandwich. You had to have your DR. and a lawyer sign off first. The BBQ sauce was so hot, if I remember right, you got $5000 if you finished it. Lots of people tried, nobody ever did. He used to bring samples of his sauce around to the grocery store I worked at. Some of it was so hot it was like pepper spray, your eyes would water and swell from dipping a toothpick in it to taste. no lie.

Man vs food was in the Des Moines area this weekend. On Saturday they were at Black Market Pizza in Ankeny, my sister and her friends (ISU students) were there and will be on the Oct. 6 show. I think she said they were also going to Miller High Life Lounge and the Drake Diner this weekend.
