Might give christian Photo a shoot (Urbandale). They have used equipment and often times unless you are a studied photographer you'll buy a camera and use 10% off the functionality. They also have classes.

And watch out for fly-by-night operations that advertise a great price with a bunch of cheap accessories thrown in. Focus on finding a quality body and lens (or two) to get you started. The accessories you can purchase later and you'll have a better idea on what you need.
