Dish Network locals are here...apparently. I just spent a bit of time on the phone only to find out I need a different satellite installed to get them.

Now this isn't because my equipment is old (only 4 mos) but they are coming off a satellite that for whatever reason doesn't get satellite 61.5.

So if you are with Dish in the Des Moines and want locals get on the horn. It's no cost for the different dish other than your time and waiting on a service call.

Just wanted to pass that along.

I just had a service guy leave my house today to upgrade to another HD DVR. They told me that if I wanted the locals in HD I needed to get a second dish. I have two HD TVs and 2 non-HD ones and don't watch a ton of local network TV so figured I don't need the 2nd dish for now. But I was a bit surprised that a second dish would be needed to get the locals in HD.

You only need one dish if you get the latest HDTV receivers, and all channels would come off of the 61.5. However, this may cost money.

I added the additional dish so I could keep my cheap receiver.

I have the HD 722 boxes which should be the latest and greatest.

FWIW the gal said it won't cost me anything.
