I know this has been talked about on here several times, but now that my introductory pricing for Mediacom is gone the price is ridiculous. I'm currently paying $127 per month for the basic cable package and internet.

I always get flyers for Direct TV that say $29.99 a month*

What do the users of Direct TV really pay? I would probably want the DVR if I switched. I love Mediacom internet, but the digital cable is too expensive. I love the Mediacom Connections channel, but since I live in Ames I go to most of the games anyway.

Any information is appreciated. I don't think I can afford Mediacom much longer so it's either a switch to Direct TV or nothing... and I don't think I can survive with nothing.

That's introductory prices for Directv too. We pay just over $100 for basic and internet. Switch now though and get a free DVR/HD receiver.

I'd like to keep my mediacom internet, but get Direct TV. Anyone else do this?

I live in Ames and have Dishnetwork. I have 4 TVs hooked up on two HD DVRs. I have the Classic Silver 200 package. Includes local channels. I don't have my internet through them though. I pay about $83 a month including all the taxes and fees. My internet is $30 with Qwest. If you are only getting a couple TVs hooked up with a DVR, you'd probably be about -$50-$60 for your TV programming.

you need to factor in if you keep mediacom cable internet that the price goes up $15 per month if you drop cable.

Once qwest offers higher speed dsl in my area I will probably make the switch.

I do both (in Des Moines). I have the highest DirecTV package you can get and like 5 DVRs and Mediacom's 20mbit service, and the grand total for all of it touches the 200 dollar/month mark.

If I cut back the internet speed a bit, I could get internet back down to around 50/month and if I got rid of showtime/starz/HBO and got rid of a receiver or two, the directv bill back to around 75/month.
