Hoping for a great match by CJLs squad tonight on her birthday.

We've played relatively well in Austin recently..here's to holding on for a win!

Well, the wheels came off. We get swept. Lost 15-25, and 17-25 to close it out. Might have done wonders to win that first set. What happened to Schaben? That's a really harsh stat line. They must have really keyed on stopping her, or she's hurt or something.

Does anyone from Texas ever graduate? Seems like I've read/heard some of those names for a long time.

Yes, might have been a different match had we pulled out the first set. Like the last set against Nebraska, when the wheels fall off, they fall off. Don't know if it's a mental toughness thing. Or maybe the other team figures us out and we don't have enough of a playbook to respond.

During the OU match, the camera showed Schaben dealing with a shoulder injury, and CJL might have mentioned it after the match. If so, hopefully it gets treated/rested and she can keep contributing.

Also during the OU match, there was a tweet that Bigbee would not play vs OU due to a knee injury. Don't know if she was suited up for Texas.

I think this year is the closest we match up with Texas physically; samara and grace looked like they could play for texas. What killed us was we got tentative/nervous with serve and pass, and we had way too many serving errors.

I don't think our serving is as good as it was last year. I know they have all fallen in love with that drop float serve but id like to see some hard fast junmp serves mixed in. 1 ace to 9 errors....

We have more talent than in the past, but to me it doesn't look like we're quite as scrappy. CJL has said in the past that "you win by taking care of the easy points and winning the long rallies." We used to do that much more, even with less talent.
Also, let's get the elite players in Iowa. Foecke from Fort Madison was a big recruiting loss, and is playing just tremendously for Nebraska right now. Nebby just broke Penn State's long home court streak, and Foecke was a big reason why.

It's seemed Nebraskagolia U Volleyball was starting to taper off until this year. Foecke's leaving for that place was not good, and then they beat, at Pen. St, the Nittany Ladies with Foecke. My post-mortem was premature, unlike NU Football which IS tanking.

Football has provided the coaching salaries and facilities for the other sports, so it will eventually affect other sports if they don't get it fixed.

I've watched Penn St play 5 matches this year.

The Penn St I saw in the 1st 4 matches didn't show up versus Nebraska. Their setter was out of sorts, and the Russ Rose was singling her out and riding her hard at every time out/break, and I think it only made her more nervous and tentative.

And then the Huskers lost their next match at Ohio State, who is very good too. The Big Ten is just a monster volleyball conference.

Note that in the Ohio State game, Foecke had a miserable outing, hitting in negative numbers I believe. But hey, she is a freshman and stuff happens. However, it shows how dependent Nebby is on Foecke!

Just saw on FB that Bigz is going in for surgery today on her knee - cartilage damage and looking at the meniscus. Hoping she'll be back in play by the end of this month.
