My son is a senior and is sending out his transcripts to several school's. He claims he has to pay out forty dollars each time he sends his transcripts to colleges, could somebody please advise me how your process worked out and which why I should lean towards.

I really am excited about him going to college, but I cannot afford him sending out transcripts to every college he may not attend if it cost forty dollars.

Not sure about any private schools, but sending your transcripts does not cost anything.

Now, there are Application fees, which at ISU is $35.00

Really though, he should send his transcripts to the schools he's interested in - have a list of 6 at the max, and then when it comes down to applying, he should apply to 4-5 schools. There's really no reason to apply to a bunch of different schools, especially with the application fees.

But no, to answer your question, simply sending high school transcripts to a college does not cost.

Hard to believe your son's high school is charging 40 bucks to send out transcripts. For ISU to send mine to an employer it only costs me 12 bucks, which is still too much for a piece of paper.....then again.....$35,000 is a lot for a college degree (another piece of paper)

I am pretty positive you do not need $40 for a HS transcript. In fact, they may be free many places. He may have been referring to the application fee which is probably around there.

I don't think my high school transcripts cost money... if they did it wasn't $40...

Heck ISU doesn't charge $40 for a transcript... though as others pointed out he could mean application fee

Or as someone suggested (beating me to the punch) he could just need beer money... (just kidding)
