When Jaylin said that, my immediate thought was it's gotta be hard for Higgins and Porter to hear that comment, and it's gotta be weird for them to be in that locker room right now. How do they feel standing next to Beau Freyler, who is the absolute epitome of 'team before me'?
There's no doubt we wouldn't even be playing in this bowl if it weren't for Higgins and Porter, but they put their own best interests above the team and they had zero part in last night's amazing victory.
On the other hand, we would have never had this incredible season without them and who can blame them for sitting the game out? It's the logical thing to do.
That's what makes this opting out issue so contentious.
I don't think coach or Jaylin were taking shots or are disappointed at Higgins or Porter.
Jaylin is a 4 year starter, that's a long time to dedicate yourself to a program, and you could tell what that last game meant to him in that post game.
Porter has been the ultimate team guy for 5 years, started at wr, moved to corner when coaches asked, did all the dirty work on special teams for years, and finally got his shot, and now has serious NFL prospects. Nobody should question his dedication to the team imo.
Higgins made a business decision and I have no problem with it. He gave us an outstanding 2 years
