Celebrity net worth

I occasionally like to look at celebritynetworth.com to see how much some people are worth nowadays. I saw a post on Robert Carradine, which got me to wondering what he'd been doing in his career lately (if anything) and that got me to wondering how much he was worth. So I looked it up. The answer was stunning (to me). It said he was worth a measly $300,000. How can that be? I'm worth more than $300,000 and I'm not some famous guy who's been in a load of films and comes from a famous acting family. You'd think his house alone would be worth more than that.

So that got me wondering about the other brothers and found something even more astonishing. David Carradine, before he died, was worth a paltry $500,000. Keith Carradine, the middle brother, is the richest of them all, or maybe didn't just squander all his riches. He's worth $6 million.

  • He is not an A list actor, so gets far less money than you think.
  • He really hasnt acted in that much for big budget shows/films
  • He is rarely if ever a main character that gets high pay.
  • His biggest hits were many years ago when the pay was not as astronomical, and those were low budget comedies that did better than expected
  • Debt, directly subtracts from worth. So if you own a $3M house but owe $2.5M on it you only have a net worth of $500K.
  • Not sure how accurate those sites are that claim to know someones worth.

Every time I’ve heard a celebrity talk about those net worths on podcasts or whatever, they always say they aren’t even close.

I was on a project where we wanted to get Kevin Costner to do a voiceover on our video, for an 8-minute read his agent wanted $600K.

Has nothing to do with net worth, but not a bad hourly rate, lol.

Just go back and pull sound bites from the first Yankees - White Sox field of Dreams game. Costner wouldn’t shut the hell up and probably said 95% of the words in the English language during his endless rambling.

Yeah we were fully aware that the agent hadn't even taken it to Costner to consider and was just throwing that number out there as a preliminary to see if it would stick. But still, lol.

How does any of that explain David Carradine? He was the star of two different TV series and also starred in the Kill Bill series of movies. He had to be making bank, but was only worth slightly more than his less well known brother.

I'm surprised it wasn't more.

I had a friend years ago that was in advertising (think still is) and somehow ended up doing some voice work for a few commercials as some 'side work'. One 10ish second segment made him $60,000.

His argument for that kind of pay out was that he had to say his part a bunch of times. A bunch of us at the time had odd/general jobs in customer service so we flipped him all sorts of **** since we all said the same things over a year's time and didn't make that much.

Divorce costs a lot of famous people and athletes a good portion of their wealth, that and child support. Start living large, costs a lot of money, and many figure that they will just make more. For young athletes its also paying for their posse and everyone that they have on the payroll, parents, siblings, friends,, you name it, they are supporting them. The most important thing a young athlete can learn is to say "no" to friends and family.

I'm fascinated by this and check celebs net worth all the time. The most shocking one for me was Burt Reynolds. He was only worth a million or two when he died. Obviously, any of us would be happy with that, but he was one of the biggest stars in the world for a stretch. I guess he said in an interview he'd made some bad investments.

Well that's about a half-day of work on his schedule. $600K for a half-day is pretty stratospheric.

Well for first, read the last bullet point, I doubt these sites are accurate, and many times at best are an educated guess.

Second, If these actors are in debt, even if they are making a lot of money they still will have a lower net worth.

This is part of the issue with some of these sites that claim they know the net worth of someone. I have read where this person made this much here and this much there, etc and totalling what they earned to come up with net worth. Earnings do not tell you their net worth, if they spent all of it etc, or incurred a large debt regardless of their income.

Finally, I would not call David's career full of high earning blockbuster and lead roles either. A lot of these parts he was in were also not exactly high earners.

But again I dont know how much faith I would put in these sites that claim to know their net worth.

Costner is not a person who considers morales.

Costner is on a different stratosphere than any of the Carradines though.
