bought house, ceiling fan/light in bedroom has been working fine then one day I flipped on the switch and the lights came on but they did not get bright, stayed at a dimmed state.

Ceiling fan has a remote for the fan speeds, dont know if that makes difference, also the light bulbs are those smaller kind that are energy efficient (you turn them on and they dont get bright right away, take 10-20 seconds). They have a smaller base, not like a normal sized bulb. Any ideas?

Press and hold the light button on the remote. Most times the remote is also a dimmer operated by holding the light button when turning it on.

This man is a genius and I am an idiot.

Didnt even think of that, went and did it and the light goes brighter than it ever did. Part of what I didnt explain in op was that I was hammered the night before it stopped working, musta slept on remote. Thanks.

Haha, same exact thing happened to me right after I bought my house.

Couldn't figure out for the life of me why the lights were so damn dim. I think I just started banging on the remote in frustration and got the button stuck and voila.

Sometimes violence is the answer.
