CBS has us not in

I really don't understand people's obsession with the big ten this year. Minnesota, Illinois, Northwestern should not be in at this point. That is just stupid. I don't think any of them will end up with winning records in their conference. I think 6 teams should go from the big ten and no more.

I think the big 12 will get 5 in with an outside shot at 6, KState being the 6th.

This is all you need to know about the geek jerry palm:

Jerry Palm's Sportswriter Profile | Bleacher Report

He's in the big 10 bubble. Nothing else gets in or out.

Why do people worry about this? The guy obviously didn't do enough research...

As someone pointed out in the RPI thread, we are currently 3-6 against RPI Top 100 teams on the season. If we only beat OU and Tech to finish 20-11 (10-8) our record against the Top 100 will be a paltry 3-9. We also have bad losses (sub RPI 100) to Drake and Okie Lite. Not exactly a flashy resume. One and done in the Big XII tourney would probably get us left out.

Would be nice to win one of those games against KSU, MU or BU, preferrably KSU or MU since it's on the road and would look better.

Record against Top 100 RPI is a bad stat for us, but both the Okie schools are around 110. Lehigh is around 120. Iowa is around 130. Our RPI is still good.

With 300+ schools, there isn't much difference between a win against #80 and a win against #120.

Dont really care, but on his bracket Wednesday he had us as a 10 I believe, what changed in a day and a half?

nw Illinois will work their ways out. we beat nobody in the non conf. lost two bad games .

otherwise ku ksu and Texas are only nice wins . we have to beat someone else of value.. not just ou and tech

I agree with you, but they have to draw the line somewhere, which apparently is right around 100. Right or wrong, that's just the way it is.

i have no problem with jerry palm's rationale. the problem i have is that if "good" road wins are a requirement, then there's about 10-12 other teams in his bracket that shouldn't be there.

there are plenty of teams "in" the bracket currently who have a worse profile than us. i think we are fine. i think we will be fine.

Honestly, College BBall as a whole is bad this year. There just aren't that many elite teams. Bottom half of the B12 is awful, Bottom of the B10 is awful, Pac 12 is awful. SEC is awful. Just a subpar year for MBB. We may get in this year with 10-8 but that is more a reflectio of how everyone else stinks than achievement on our part because in virtually any other year our resume at 10-8 does not get us in.

As many have said, win one of the last three and one in the tourney and we are golden.

Losing 4 in a row to finish = us hosting an NIT game.

I get how some analysts have conference ties or preferences but why would CBS not have someone who is a bit more objective put an article on the front page? This guy is clearly seeing things through "legends and leaders" framed gogles.

As for the whole "no quality road wins" thing, I can accept that as our downfall, but I would also counter with the fact we haven't lost to anyone bad at home (not to mention the fact we beat a top 10 team at home). It's not like we are Arkansas who is great at home and can't win a game on the road.

I agree that the field is really weak this year....especially the bubble.

But I completely disagree with you on the 10-8 thing. I think that in most years, a 10-8 conference record with 20+ wins will get you into the tournament in a power conference.

With 2 more conference games, that's too more wins over BCS teams than most teams who play in 16-game conference leagues.
