CBS has us not in

I think it may be overconfident to think that finishing 2-3 down the stretch and losing the first one in K.C. will get us in. We would squarely be on the bubble.

3 more wins from here on out in 6+ games should do it though.

I still think we need at least one more quality win. Any of @KSU, @Mizzou, or Baylor would do. Assuming of course we beat OU and Tech.

If we go 2-3 with our remaining schedule, I think we need a tourney run to get in.

Why do people freak out every time someone has us "out"? It's ridiculous. We may not make it but what they say now doesn't mean jack squat.

I don't think people are really freaking out about being out as much as they are freaking out about these bracketologists being stupid.

Cyclones' warning

Bracket advisory: Not beating anyone decent away from home doesn't sit well with the tourney committee. It's why Iowa State is off Jerry Palm's latest bracket along with Big 12 mate Texas.

Teams in:
Northwestern (15-10, 5-8)
Roads wins against GT (9-16, 2-9) and Illionois (16-10, 5-8)

Illinois (16-10, 5-8)
Road wins against Marlyand (15-10, 5-6) and Northwestern (15-10, 5-8)

Kansas State (17-8, 6-7)
Road wins against VT (14-12, 3-8) Oklahoma State (12-14, 5-8) and Tech (8-17, 1-12)

Something does not compute

Illinois has lost 7 out of their last 8...and they're in???

This!
Well, I can only speak for myself, but I was just illustrating what a toolbox Jerry Palm is. Its funny to laugh at him and shake your head.

Another thing is that if we finish 2-3 with a first round tourney loss, we would finish the season losing 6 of our last 9. In that case, I think looking at our entire resume, the win against Kansas would be considered an outlier. I don't think we would deserve to be in if that happens.

That's how I feel. 10-8 and a one and done in the tourney may still get us in but I'll be sweating on Selection Sunday. If we are 10-8 and win at least one down in KC, we should be good.

If we finish 11-7, we're golden, even if both our losses are on the road against K State and Mizzou.

It's not like we are the only ones in this position. We, along with a lot of other teams could struggle down the stretch.

CBS has B10 ties. They're going to put as many B10 teams in as possible to keep that viewership/readership up!

Jerry Palm is nothing a big 10 shill. What he thinks means nothing. Illinois isn't done losing either. Hell, they could lose out. Pretty pathetic and disappointing to me as they are my second favorite team. But the fact that he puts more weight on them beating maryland or gonzaga in November/December than their pathetic play recently just shows his true colors. And minnesota is in too? Puhlease.

He just showed the world that how big of a moron he is by not being able to follow his own reasoning.

As someone pointed out in the RPI thread, we are currently 3-6 against RPI Top 100 teams on the season. If we only beat OU and Tech to finish 20-11 (10-8) our record against the Top 100 will be a paltry 3-9. We also have bad losses (sub RPI 100) to Drake and Okie Lite. Not exactly a flashy resume. One and done in the Big XII tourney would probably get us left out.

Would be nice to win one of those games against KSU, MU or BU, preferrably KSU or MU since it's on the road and would look better.

This is true, but bracketologists can't assume those scenarios for all teams or they won't find enough teams to fill their bracket. It's a bad assumption to assume we're going to lose at home against Baylor, at Kansas State, and the 1st game of the B12 tournament. Odds are, we get at least one of those.

I really don't understand people's obsession with the big ten this year. Minnesota, Illinois, Northwestern should not be in at this point. That is just stupid. I don't think any of them will end up with winning records in their conference. I think 6 teams should go from the big ten and no more.

I think the big 12 will get 5 in with an outside shot at 6, KState being the 6th.
