Carol Hoiberg Retweet

I see from the comments below the article that Paige did follow in a parent's (her mom) footsteps in choosing to be a Chi-Omega, so at least my wife will like seeing that. No, I'm not a stalker. My wife was Chi-O and has fully alerted me that Carol was a Chi-O too. If you haven't married a sorority girl, they tend to catch and remind you of stuff like that no matter how much or how little you give a crap (Full disclosure: I don't, I wasn't even greek). If you guys like giving me a hard time about having a little school pride, you really need to rail on my wife about her XO pride. I'd appreciate that.
You want us to rail your wife?

Once again - why does this matter?

This is a really weird deal.

Because we, as a society, have an unhealthy and inappropriate sense of ownership over the lives of people that we consider 'famous' (famous being relative, I doubt anyone would technically consider Paige a celebrity). It's the same reason that the internet dang near broke over leaked nudes of celebrities, it's the reason the paparazzi chase these celebrities around everywhere they go.

Normally, I counter that thought with a reminder that a lot of these celebrities play that game with intentionality, dropping hints that they're going to be a certain place at a certain time to get the coverage, but in this case, Paige is the focus of this article simply because of who her dad is. On the flip side, she's also getting some pretty good opportunities because of who her dad is.

However, if you are upset with Paige because of where she decided to go to school, that's a you thing, and you need to re-evaluate your sense of ownership over the life of a person you've likely never even met.

She can go where she pleases. I guess I don't get why Carol would bring attention to the story. She had to know it would upset some ISU fans.

OMG! Carol is a mother tweeting about her daughter, that's why!

Because she's a proud mom who enjoyed the story? I doubt she did it with the intention of irritating ISU fans.

This thread has all but proven Paige would have not had a typical student experience at ISU. She may feel a little of that at KU, but not nearly to the same extent.

jsb, the freaking outest person in this thread, disagrees with you.

if you go back and read what I wrote, I said:

1. It's an interesting story for Kansas fans but I don't give a **** about it.

2. I can understand Paige wanting to go to KU even if Fred was still here.

what I don't like is constantly having our former coach brought up and being lectured that I should be thrilled about his new career.

You realize it was written by a KU writer for a KU website, right? It's a little odd, irrelevant twist to the KU-ISU rivalry. That ISU fans have their knickers in a twist about it highlights why she was right to get out of Iowa. No way people would have left her alone had she stayed.
I agree with what you say about her needing to get out of Iowa. I guess the thing is, and I can only speak for myself obviously, but she just HAD to pick Kansas of all places...Really? Couldn't have picked UCLA or Kentucky or Maryland? It just had to be her Dad's largest rival...that's the part I don't get. But then again, I really don't have to get it.

it wasn't her dads largest rival.

no one disputes this or implied otherwise. Why are people arguing about something that was never implied?

Will Fred tell Duke or UNC that it is his dream job and he wants to retire there?

Ermahgherd their trying to one-up each other now...
