Carol Hoiberg Retweet

In the front part of my response, I absolutely was talking about Paige. Why wouldn't I somewhat wish she went to ISU? Deep down, shoot I root for everyone to choose ISU. Its called school pride because I went there, just like I put in a good word for ISU to all my neighbor kids who are choosing a college. Paige is no different. Well, maybe even a little more so I guess for Paige just because she is a legacy (as in her family went to ISU, no different than any other legacies). I think legacies are even more fun when they choose ISU. I hardly think there is anything wrong with that. On the flip side, I'm never heartbroken if they don't choose ISU, even though I may give them a hard time in a friendly way if they don't.
We had 36,001 students enrolled at Iowa State this fall. I don't think it mattered if Paige did or didn't come to Iowa State.

i am not one complaining about prohm. I wasn't ******** about him or the team when they lost two in a row. I won't ***** about him if they lose tonight. There will be plenty on here that do though.

And mid of course the team can be good next year. But losing 4 starters is never easy. And our recruiting class is rough. And the reason it is rough is not that prohm can't recruit, it's that starting over every 4-5 years is not the way to build a program.
We lose 3 starters and gain Naz with a decent class coming in. (Assuming Monte doesn't declare for Europe) Will we drop off? Probably, but we won't suck.

Soon as I saw that article I had hoped that CF wouldn't discover it

hopefully not. But I won't be the one ******** every time we lose. The same people that ***** about me, will kill prohm every time his teams lose.

You people need to really cool down harping on me for rooting for people to choose ISU. Its just simple school pride which I think a lot of us have. Paige is no different than my neighbor girl. Boy I hope I'm not the only alum who puts in good words for people to choose ISU. Man, not everything said on here like what I said has to be taken to extremes.

I'm not surprised that Fred couldn't get Vaughn or Diallo to commit to ISU. He couldn't even get his own daughter to go there.

I'm over Fred and his family. They clearly were not "All In".

*This post might be sarcasm. Then again, maybe not.

i thought it was a nice feature. a lot of ames kids grow up as diehard cyclone fans but go someplace else for college.

My sons were around ISU all their lives. Oldest son actually asked me if it would be okay if he visited a couple of other schools, and I encouraged him to do so. Sometimes kids need to get away from parents, and in Paige's case that's even more true.

Son ended up at UNI, did a masters at Ball State, worked at two Wiscy satellite campuses and now works on campus on the dark side (Nebraska - but he also had an interview at Iowa!). He's STILL a Cyclone fan. :)

I put in a good word for Iowa State, but would likely have no problem putting in a good word for KU too as they are a strong academic institution.

Heh, I know someone that works in the sports department at NU with a Cyclone helmet in his office.

I know Fred was thinking of his daughters future when he had her visit KU and I respect that, but did he try to get anyone to come to ISU his last year here?

This is funny, sad, true, and really was a no-win situation exasperated by the freaking Bulls and their timeline when they probably had decided to fire Thibs for months.

Hoiberg wasn't going to lie and he shouldn't, but it did leave us with a very short bench.

Didn't you take the CF Vow? "I promise to go to the ends of the Earth looking for any reason under the sun for a Cyclone fan to be butthurt, and if I find something I must post it immediately so that my CF brethren can overreact to it."

The only reason I wish Paige would've come here is so articles and threads like this one wouldn't have to exist.

And yes, I know I "don't have to read it", but I have that OCD thing where I actually kind of do have to read it.

If you actually read the whole thread, you'll see there isn't any overreaction to Paige going to KU. Typical Fred bs? Yes, but we get that in many discussions.

Come May, we will have 19 ISU degrees, between my siblings, our spouses, and children.

My oldest is the only one of the cousins on my side not to go to Iowa State. He did attend one of the most prestigious universities in the world and remains a Cyclone fan.

I am glad she is happy and chose to go somewhere besides ISU but I really wish it was not freaking Kansas - and she works for Bill Self. PUKE

Spy? Or traitor? [jimlad, sort of]

Hey, it's cool man. This is CF...extremes are what we do. ;-)

Wasn't expecting ill will toward Paige but knew it would digress into another Fred discussion that has been had soooo many times which would then turn into a discussion about next year
