Thanks. That’s actually a really good location for a sports bar. A few parking spots in their own lot and then public lots right across the street.
Some nice improvements happening on the south end of Welch. Stomping Grounds put in a new patio.

Nice, Campustown needs a sports bar. I wonder what they are going to put where the district used to be.http://www.iowastatedaily.com/lifestyle/article_d38049d0-8941-11e8-b78a-1746e5564827.html

That place must be haunted or something. Nothing ever lasts more than a couple years there. Pretty sure there was bar that opened and closed within 90 days when i was in college.
I wish there was a master list of what places used to be called, so everyone had a frame of reference. Here's what a brief search turned up for that location.

That leasing office made it less than 3 years. Did they relocate?
That would make sense, just haven't been back and wasn't sure if that fell through some how. Thanks for the info.IIRC, that office was for 2320 Lincoln Way. Since that building is open, maybe they just moved operations there.
Es Tas was our go to but really like the idea of another option that would fit a few more families.Campustown has 2 damn good sports bars (WAS and Es Tas), but I think a place that was more family friendly would be a great addition. Get lots of ISU gear in there and what not.

Actually this might be towards his favor since I'm going to guess the majority of the time that there will be families will be during football season so having a short menu and nailing it will better serve him. The rest of the time it'll have to stay afloat from college students drinking and again having a short menu better serves him in that sense as well.I think a sports bar in the area would be nice. However, I am not sure if his plan is going to work. He wants it to be something where you can come and watch a game and bring alumni and families to. However, the article says that he wants to open before the kitchen is finished. Even then, he said there were going to be 10 items on his menu.
I think Campustown needs a sports bar; but said sports bar needs to be more focused on food than being a bar. I don't think this place is going to satisfy it.

I love Shorts too.
Stillwater has a great one called the Garage. Eskimo Joe's before the game was a blast.

I hope it works out. I hope that the owners have done their research, and set their business model accordingly. Putting a restaurant in campustown cuts off a sizable demographic, because there are plenty of people who just won't go there. If their model is too dependent on drawing in families or even business lunches, it can be tough in that area.
I think Ben has got the campustown thing down. Seems like that man has properties all over.I hope it works out. I know Welch Ave Station doesn't fit the mold of the "typical" sports bar, but I watched a ton of away games there when I was in school and it was always packed and a fun environmentNice, Campustown needs a sports bar. I wonder what they are going to put where the district used to be.
