This came up in the office today. What was on the corner NW of the clock tower before Jimmy John's? Late 90s/early 2000s.

wow and i thought melinals were bad.
To be fair they still sell dough at HyVee.
There are quite a few Insomnia cookie places out there now a days. Westport KC location has been there a long time.

Great things I lost when I moved to CO:
- Do-Biz, **** I forgot about these. Googled it and I don' t think they'll ship me dough.
- AE Party dip, although we have green chili sour cream dip, so it's a wash.
- B-Bops

Do Biz - two-fer Tuesdays. There would be a guaranteed line going down the sidewalk when you showed up.

One milk chocolate chip and one white chocolate chip pleez!

We had a location downtown Des Moines on the skywalk that finally closed about a year ago. Good stuff but yeah, you can buy the dough in some grocery stores and bake yourself.

Do Biz is correct.
Jimmy Johns is where Joy's is at and Battles was next door. Battles was incredible back in the day. Literally about 11 people could fit inside.

That era of Battles reminded me of the great BBQ places on Madison Avenue in Chicago on the way to Bulls games at the old Chicago Stadium. Never, thought I would find something in Ames that would connect me so well to 1980's Chicago west side.

Not exactly sure.
Whoa, that sidestreet has changed. Little Teipei used to be above Kinkos during my day. Also, there used to be a house that sat dead west of where LT is now. Went to a few parties in that house. Battles was a street west of where Jimmy Johns is now. All I remember from that location is that is where the hot dog truck was when the bars let out.

The old Battles location when George himself was there was amazing. Jazz/blues always playing, barn-plank wood walls, the bbq and Texas toast was amazing, and a glass of lemonade that was perfectly sweetened. Phenomenal place.

I was in Campustown over the weekend and I thought about going into the CVS bathroom and puking in the sink for old times sake.
Excuse me Miss Pharmacist, what are the piano beer specials tonight?
Also, what time does Kountertop take the stage? Oh not until 10? We'll I'm going to head to the basement for a few quarter draws until then, and by a few, I mean a few trays worth.
